I had a similar problem with my wbr-2310. Get it too busy, and the router would reboot itself. Updating firmware to version 1.04 didn't help. It would reboot several times an hour, and lose the activity logs too!
I solved the problem by putting my old DI-604 (ethernet only) router back in service between the modem and the rest of the LAN. I turned off the NAT functions in the wbr-2310 and run it only as a wireless access point (WAP). With the old router taking care of packet inspection and DHCP, the wirelss now supports my laptop , and a Wii, and it hasn't rebooted in three months. Not my preferred solution, but at least I have WiFi.

Sounds like you need to 'copy' the mac address of the computer it was orginally hooked to before and put it into the router. Some routers have an option to do this in the settings menu of the router with one click.

Sounds like a defective modem/modem failure if, it does not reset or if you take all of the other wires out and just leave the power in and none of the other lights go off then that is definitely a defective mode, I suggest either returning the modem to where you purchased it from or calling D link it should be covered under there warranty for replacement.

Can you get a pc to connect to the internet? If you can, what IP address does HUGHES assign? If it is in the range of 192.168.0.X then change the DEFAULT GATEWAY address of the router to something like 192.168.10.1 (out of the box it should be set to 192.168.0.1)
