My Toshiba Tecra S1 Laptop has lines up and

hello,

the flex of your is either getting weak or it has shifted from its original location.. the flex is what connects the screen to the panel of the laptop and when it has a problem you experience lines on your screen..

what you should do is to open up your laptop and try to set the flex to its normal position and see if it stops the lines on your scree, if it doesn't then you have to change the flex

if you cant open your laptop, get someone with experience to help you

goodluckk

Reset bios on toshiba tecra pt831u

I believe your model is Tecra S1 - PT831U. I found htis link and the BIOS version is 2.50. You might need to install things in a certain order, (I know this to be true for DELL laptops)So first some instructions from Toshiba,: "
.....Follow the steps below to procure or view any of the following support-related items for your Toshiba computer:
  • Drivers
  • Utilities
  • BIOS updates
  • Detailed Specifications
  • User's Guides
  • Product Tours
  • Support Bulletins
1. Click Product Support in the navigation bar toward the top of the page of ths website (the Toshiba Support website -- support.toshiba.com).
2. Choose a product Category, Family, and Model from the lists and then click GO.
For example: Portables, Portege, R500-S8199, GO.
A list of Support Bulletins for the selected model will appear, since that tab is selected by default.
3. Click other tabs to see Downloads, Detailed Specs, the User's Guide, a Product Tour, and other content for the selected model.

4. For Downloads and Support Bulletins, you can use the Refine Search By lists to narrow your search to a specific operating system, and/or to a specific technology topic (BIOS, Wi-Fi). A more specific results list will be displayed.
5. Click the title of any item in the lists to view or download it.
- km/wa" There's some pretty good information there, I hope this helps, and good luck. If I 'fixed ya' please rate me. Thanks. -jmattes

Toshiba notbook tecra s1 model no 831l-1104l -- No Display

If you see a very dim image or black screen or flicking image on the LCD screen it means you have a backlight problem.

Connect an external monitor to your laptop and power it up, if you see the normal Windows images then the video card and laptop is OK and the problem is definitely the backlight.

Dim image and/or dark display on the laptop's LCD screen indicates a faulty LCD backlight and it could be the inverter that supplies high voltage to the CCFL lamp or it is the CCLF lamp is nearly burnt out or burnt out, most likely this is the case.
The inverter can be replaced easily but the CCLF lamp is more time consuming and requires soldering skills.

Toshiba tecra 9000 wont start

Blue screens are generally operating system failure. You will need to reinstall your XP home. Format the drive NTFS, instead of FAT32. If you have any problems during or after the reload, then the hard drive is the failure and will need replaced.
