How do I remove the bearing from the rearof the drum on a front load lg washer it is a modle WM2032HS and I have it all the way apart except the bearing looks like it is pressed in but im not sure

This is a very involved repair and will require disassembling most of the washer, which you have witnessed. The manufacturer recommends that if possible the complete outer tub and bearing be replaced rather than attempting to replace just the bearing in the tub. If the bearing is bad the problem is going to get worse very quickly and so either the drum and bearing will need to be replaced or the washing machine.

Whirlpool Front load washer - wfw9400sw01. Sounds very loud during the spin cycle. Suspect a bearing issue. I have pulled the back plate off. Pulley, belt, shocks and motor all appear to be fine. What...

A loud rumble noise during the spin cycle is a good indication that the bearings have failed. The bearings are located in the rear outer tub. See link http://www.appliancepartspros.com/part_details.aspx?part_id=4426951 There are actually two bearings an inner and an outer bearing plus a seal. Water must have leaked past the seal causing the inner bearings to corrode. Once they start to rust, it just gets louder and louder. You are correct that Whirlpool does not sell the bearings and seal separately, but you must buy a new rear outer tub currently the price is over $400.

I had it happen to a different brand of front load washer and was faced to either, replace the rear outer tub, junk it or figure out how to replace the seal and bearing. I opted for the last and did some research on finding replacement bearings and seals. I had to tear the washer apart to get the bearings, then pound out the old ones to replace with new ones. It been working find for the last 2.5 year so far.

I found a website that might help you locate bearings and seals for your machine. http://www.hometask.com/washerrepair.aspx The site has a video on how to tear down your machine and shows you how to remove and replace the bearings. He might have the ones that you need on his site. Hope this helps you.

The bearings on my Whirlpool Cabrio WTW6400SW3 make a racket on the spin cycle. The Whirlpool parts diagrams show that to replace the bearings, the entire drum is replaced. I can see one of the bearings...

Yes you can just replace the bearings but be careful. they say to replace the entire drum as the materials they are made out of is not very strong and you can distort or damage the drum when removing the bearings.

Is there a reason for the bearings in a front loading machine to keep needing to be replaced

It could be that the new bearings are being fitted onto a worn drum shaft, this would soon cause the bearings to fail again.
If it has not been replaced, then it should be done so.

Loud bearings

You'll need to tear the unit down to the bearings and remove them. All bearings have a manufacturer and number on them. You can get replacement bearings (sometimes) at your dealer. I have had much better luck at Motion Industries or WWGrainger. Look in the phone book for bearings. A shop that sells them will be about 10% of the cost that it would be from Maytag. Sometimes the dealer won't even offer a repair; the will want to sell you an assembly with the bearings already in it. They may also tell you that the bearings can't be replaced. Don't fall for this; if you can get to the bearings, and get them off, you can certainly put the new bearings on. One last thing: the dealer may tell you that you need a special, rubberized bearing. Don't let them fool you...the bearing shop will have them too. If you washer is a front loader with 2 bearings on the spindle, it is wise to replace them both. I have done this on my own wasaher. Maytag dealer's estimate: $250 for the assembly, $250 to install. My cost: ~$55 for the bearings (both of them) and my time. You can do this!
Best regards, --W/D-- please feel free to rate this solution..thanx!

Drum will not rotate

im confused as to why you think no drum rotation would be caused by bearings. typically worn bearings would cause noisy spin. only if bearings were completely seized would that cause no drum rotation. can you rotate drum by hand? if so bearings are not seized. can you hear motor rotate when you select spin? if not, then likely cause is motor brushes. do these simple tests and get back to me if you want. and bearings are quite difficult to replace on this machine
