I not only know now, I have posted. It is my understanding that posting something there that a person reads and uses, can lead to pay for me if this person does live chat and DOES help me because they can auto respond to keep my solution level rising. Am I on the right track?

To get in on Chats its a luck of the draw once you are qualified to receive them. A lot of us believe there hare some experts that have usurped the system in some manner but no one's figured that out yet. So, its really a matter of luck and where you are on the Intenet Trunk. I know a few who are on a T-3 and they still don't get in on Chats that easily. A whole lot depends on your ISPs server and traffic burden..

For Tips and Tricks you want to find a problem area we get a lot of hits on that you have some knowledge with. It takes a lot of poking around in the history list of unanswered questions and you'll stumble upon a particular question that many others have ticked the button that they have the same problem. There are a lot of those in the system. Once you have a hot topic and can write a working solution for it that all will respond to, post the link to your tip to all those users so they get to your tip rather than respond to a solution. In a Tip they can either vote Helpful or Not. This equates to
FixYas and TFT, no chance for an IA.Given that option most people vote Helpful and you get another FixYa. And these votes off Tips used to generate a lot of bumps in your profile.

I think the Staff have turned that feature off for now as it was really getting abused by buddies collaborating between themselves to bump each other's profile by voting up via Tips. Once they have that under control, soon I suspect, then voting off Tips will return to your over all count.

Once that's back in play again, that's one way to get you score up. There have been so many people banned in the last few months its laughable. Now that staff have scripts they can run and find unlocked FixYa votes there will be more and more scammers gone. That is good for the honest expert.

For more on Tips if you haven't seen this already you can read my Tip on writing tips.

To be fair Scott Ellin wrote a quick and dirty method that works quite well. I just went into much more detail, that's all. He had asked me how to write a tip and I wrote this Tip above on his request. Then he wrote a short version which is fine by me. I usually write very long instructive solutions. That's probably because I taught Information Systems and Technology in College and had to write lectures.

Good Luck, nice to meet you.

If a user responsds to your Solution or not your solution count rises. The solution count for eligibility to solve Premiums and Chats does not depend on a customer responding to your solution. You just need to offer 30 solutions in 30 days.

Most people who have to be part time on FixYa, like me while on a vacation from work (as I run my own IT business), try to do three solutions a day.

I am still a little in the dark as to the what the 'me first' reference is on. What is it you are building? Do you have some part on back order for a project?

Let me know if this answers your question or not as I do want to help out if I can.

BTW, did you make an entry into our Introduce Yourself thread? I saw and responded to your "Unbelievable" thread so you would know you are not alone. These Live Chats it seems, bring out the worst in customers who try to get away with something and refuse to pay. Our Customer Support team is very good at making these people pay for services rendered. You may get paid fo rthat too, you will want to backup your effort by emailing experts@fixya.com and explaining to them what happened and why and include the url to the Live Chat it is in your main profile page, usually at the very bottom of your page.

Ultimately, in the long run it is staff you decides on the payment which can be disputed and more often is. If you answer a Premium or Live Chat that subsequently gets solved in the free area, it is actually an avoidance of payment for services in practical business terms.

Admin and Staff will likely go to bat for you as I've stated. Whether they and you win in the end is up in the air. Most likely though it won't get payment and the user will be banned from pay for services as I recall. It may be a good idea to ask this of Lauren@FixYa.com our Community Manager and get her position on this.

I hope that settles it in your mind for now.

How to download a profile to a x box 360

There are two ways to move/download your xbox 360 profile. One way is is download it via an internet connection and the other is physically transferring it via usb drive.

To download your profile press the xbox button in the middle of your controller to access the xbox guide and then select download profile.
If you do not see this option sign out of your profile first.
Then enter your profile information. If you do not know your information check out this site in order to retrieve it.
http://support.xbox.com/billing-and-subscriptions/account-management/forgot-microsoft-account
The rest should be pretty easy. Just follow the prompts and your profile will start downloading.

The second option requires some sort of external memory device like a USB drive. This option still needs your account information so make sure you still have that handy.
Plug your external memory device via the USB ports on the front of the console (or the one on the back if those are full). Then go to settings in the xbox home page and then select storage, All Devices, Gamer Profiles. Select the Profile you want to move and then select Move. Move your profile to the external and reverse the process on the target console to upload the profile to the hard drive.

If any of these instructions are confusing or you would like more detail, check out this xbox support website for more information.

We are tring to hook up our projector to our laptop.

Nice! Putting your *generic* laptop on a *generic* projector can look awesome for movies, gaming or just surfing. It all depends on the connection you use.

To make the connection, you need to choose a cable that both the *generic* laptop and the *generic* projector support. Here's the common ones, in order of awesome (most to least):
HDMI,
DVI,
RGB/VGA,
Component,
S-Video,
Composite

Of course, with adapters you can basically connect any of these types into any other type.

So now you've connected them both, but there's no picture! Don't fret; there's still more to do. First, make sure the *generic* projector is on the right input channel. Use your remote or the buttons on the *generic* projector itself to turn to it.

Then you have to set up the *generic* laptop. Many different laptops these days will let you just press the "FN" key along with the "F5" key to switch to projector mode. Pressing it again will switch which type of mode it's in (duplicate, extend or projector only). You can also do this in your computer settings, though.

On Windows 7:
"Windows Key" + "P".
-or-
Start Menu > Control Panel. If Control Panel is in Classic View, go to Display > Adjust Resolution(it's on the left side toolbar). Otherwise, click on "Adjust Screen Resolution" under the Appearances and Personalization category. Click on the second monitor, then make a selection from the "Multiple Displays" option.

On Windows Vista:
Start Menu > Control Panel > Appearance and Personalization > Personalization > Display Settings > Monitor (it's a tab). Select the second display from the Display drop-down menu then check the box for "Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor"

On Windows XP:
Right-click the desktop > Properties > Settings (it's a tab). Select the second display from the Display drop-down menu, then check the box for "Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor"

On Mac:
It's already set up! Seriously, it's plug and play; very awesome. To change the mode (mirroring/duplicate, extended), goto Display Preferences > Arrangement.

On Linux:
I have no idea, so I Googled it for you. You're welcome.

There! Your *generic* laptop is now connected to your *generic* projector. Enjoy your gaming/videos/web browsing/etc!

My daughter's fisher price easy link internet launch pad will not start up i recieve a message setup had detected that version 1.02.000 is already installed this setup installs an ealrier version of...

I had a similar issue. Check and see if you have 2 Fisher-Price file folders under C:\Program Files. Go to My Coputer, then c drive, then program files. You should see only 1 Fisher Price folder. If you see another with Fisher-Price(2), Open that folder and select all of the files. Then select cut. Paste those files in the original Fisher-Price Folder and that should get you up and going. That is what I had to do to get mine to work again. I don't know how that second folder got created but it did.
Hope this works for you
