It is a good chance that the bulb (s) have burned out. I would think they would last longer than that but things are not as good as they used to be. Unplug the microwave before removing the bulbs. Especially if they are the screw in type. GE usually has two bulbs in there and they could be the halogen type that just plug in or the screw in type.
According to the parts breakdown it uses a standard 40 watt appliance bulb,it say for the part# to buy locally so its a standard bulb since ge never even issued a specific part# for it
I realized the light bulb was fixed using an adhesive (maybe a glue stick) that is why, I had a hard time removing the old bulb. After forcing it (and breaking the adhesive seal) I was able to replace it with a new one.
With a volt meter you must verify power to the door light switch and the light socket.
You can also unplug the oven and do this with a meter set for continuity.
