I have exactly the same problem. Have been listening to MP3 at work today and when out on a run and it was rapidly down to the last quarter. Within mins of plugging usb in, it now says fully charged!

I have the nwz-e something that hass 8GB and have the EXACT same problem. I could have purchased an ipod, but I thought "No, choose Sony for reliability". Seriously, wth.... Any fix on that? Im getting so pissed off. A temporary measure i found:
Download firmware update. Open the software. I think it uses OTHER drivers to connect to the mp3 player. It starts charging normally, but displays "Do not disconnect" on the mp3 player (that's because it's expecting firmware update). You do not have to ACTUALLY CLICK START to actually RUN the update. Just leave the software open, and mp3 player will charge. But this measure is temporary and annoying. I want a proper fix for the money I paid. Any1 can help would be much appreciated, but SONY should REALLY do something about that..

    Cheers

I am experiencing the same issue. My Walkman states that my battery is FULL, yet it is not. I have a 4GB, NWZ-E436F, SN 5197(***). Perhaps we can post the SN sequences and see if there may have been a battery 'lot' issue? My Walkman was working fine until I restarted my computer with the MP3 player attached. That seems to be the only reason for causing this issue. Did anyone else restart their computer with the Walkman attached?

You could try to plug it in the back of the computer instead of the front . . fixed the problem for me, it now charges properly.

I think you are using a USB-Hub. Connect the player directly to the computers USB port. See the manuel on page 100 (English version)

My sony walkman nwz-e436f is full of songs but is now telling that no songs are available for playback. Is there anything I can do, I have already tried to reset but nothing happened.

It appears that your walkman is still turning on. When you connect it to your computer, check windows media player and look if it recognizes your walkman. If it is not recognized. look it up from windows explorer as a removable device, and take it from there.
