Nightmare, same problem with DNS changer. Laptop unable to rid the computer of it and unable to do a reformatt because it comes back, who are these people that cause so much problems. Unable to update anything that could be possible of help and there seems to be no fix available. It also traveled to the desktop on the network, but I can just jnk the hard drive to rid it on that one,
do't think I can do it on the laptop because of the drivers.

I HAVE SOLVED THIS BY REPLACING MY ROUTER WITH A NEW ONE AND RESET MY IP ADDRESS ON MY PC. I ALSO HAD TO SCAN MY PC WITH MALWARE MALBYTE TO CLEAR THIS DNS CHANGER.

I BELIEVE MY ROUTER HAD BEEN HACKED SO MY IP SETTING WAS WIPPED OF MY PC AND I WAS RUNNING OF SOME ONE ELSES IP ADDRESS AND THATS WHY IT WAS NEVER CLEARING FROM MY PC AS IT WAS MY ROUTER LETTING THIS BACK ON MY PC.

I AM GLAD MY PC IS RUNNING NORMAL AGAIN AS IT HAS TAKEN A WHILE TO FIND OUT WHAT THIS PROBLEM WAS AS RE INSTALLING WINDOWS WASN'T FIXING THE PROBLEM.

Need to reset handset

IP Reset
IP Reset returns the basic network settings to their factory defaults. You can perform this operation from the
base unit or one of the handsets.
The following settings will be reset to their factory defaults:
DHCP setting (restored to DHCP on
• Settings related to static IP addressing (the values for static IP address, subnet mask, default gateway,
DNS1, and DNS2 are cleared)
• DNS settings for DHCP connection cleared

1.2.1 Reset
1.2.1.1 Resetting the Network Settings IP Reset
Performing IP Reset from the phone user interface see 2.1.4 IP Reset restores the basic network settings
made through phone user interface programming or Web user interface programming to their factory defaults.
If the unit is unable to connect to the network after changing network settings, you can restore the network
settings to their factory defaults by performing IP Reset, and then try configuring the settings again. Settings
such as the phonebook data, are not cleared by this feature.
The following settings will be reset to their factory defaults:
• DHCP setting restored to DHCP on
• Settings related to static IP addressing (the values for static IP address, subnet mask, default gateway,
DNS1, and DNS2 are cleared)
• DNS settings for DHCP connection (cleared)
• PHY settings (speed and duplex mode of the either LAN or PC port are restored to "automatic")
• VLAN (Virtual Local Area Network) settings (disabled)
• Terminal number settings (restored to "automatic")
Notice

After performing IP Reset, the unit will restart automatically. To avoid problems, it is recommended that
you save your settings before performing IP Reset.
Note

If these settings (with the exception of PHY settings and terminal number settings) were made through
Web user interface programming, the set values made through Web user interface programming
remain effective, even if you perform IP Reset. To reset these settings to their factory defaults, perform
Reset Web Settings from the Web user interface again.

I need to reset a nokia 2126 tracphone to factory settings someone had locked it and dont know the code

To restore factory settings

This option resets some of the menu settings to their original values. It does not
delete data that you have entered or downloaded, or affect entries in your
contacts list.

In the standby mode, select Menu > Settings > Restore factory settings. Enter the
security code, and select OK. See "Change lock code," The default code is 12345.

It has been affected by a virus and all my files have been damaged and turned to shortcut icons and can not open.

I would use your system restore disk to set the machine back to the factory settings. Or take it to someone that can scan and remove the virus to see if your files are still usable. When I had a virus, I restored my system to the factory settings with the system restore disk. Good luck.

If i restore my dell inspiron 9400 to its original factory settings will it delete XP updated files received over the past couple of years and will it affect my security McAffe that i subscibe to?

Yes it will. I suggest that you download Windows XP SP2, and Windows XP SP3 and save to an external USB key or burn to a CD-R. If you save the downloads to your HD, restoring to factory settings will most likely overwrtite your HD. So with that. I also suggest that you backup all your personal data, such as documents, pictures, favorite, email contact list, emal messages, and any other personal data that you will need.

Once you have finished the restore to factory process, place the USB key or CD-R in the slots/drive, and install SP2 first, check no restart button, then install SP3. Reboot and now do your Windows Updates.

The reason I suggest sp2, then sp3 before running Windows update, is to save you time getting your unit back in production. If you did a Windows update after the restore to factory process, you would most likely be prompted to download and install SP2, then all the patches and updates would follow fro sp2. This way sp2 updates sp1, then sp3 updates sp2, and finally the updates and security patches for sp3 are all you need.

McAfee - Again download the software to a USB key or CD-R. Before you start the restore, open McAfee, select help, about, and print out or write down your subscription key. You will need these when you reinstall McAfee on your restored unit.

Hope this helps.............

God Bless !!!!!!!

Picture on monitor is distorted

I went to the panel buttons, and then punched the reset for each of the icons on the menu. That restored the display picture to its factory settings. The degaussing did not help the picture, and any stray magnetism is generally automatically degaussed when the computer starts up. As to the flickering of the picture, that is because of the refresh rate. I am using a relatively updated operating system, and the refresh rate has changed somewhat. I also believe the temperature of the computer affects the flickering. I hope this comment helps someone who has a similar problem.

Best regards,
