My Wii stopped playing some games.

The Wii and games are all new (Xmas). The Wii was working perfectly earlier in the day and then later it would not load some games. Here's what happens:
1) Load disk.
2) Wii recognizes game and displays game on game channel of menu
2) Select game channel on Wii menu
3) Select "Start" game
4) Screen goes black and the reloads the main Wii menu

I can't discern any kind of pattern from the games that work and don't.

Games that work: Party games 2, Star Wars Lightsaber duals, Mario Kart.

Games that fail: Wii Sports, Wii Play, Super Paper Mario

I've had the same problem.  I just bought Indianapolis 500 Legends and fresh out of the box it has this problem.  I also have Guitar Hero III Legends of Rock which I played through, but now can't play any more with the same symptoms described here.  Anyone have a solution?

I bought a wii for xmas. I also bought a brand

Make sure you have inserted the disk the right way. I don't remember exactly which way it goes in, but insert it with the side with the writing on it to the right and vice versa.
