I have had a Belkin router for a while now. I know that others are using my network, but I don't know how to make my network security enabled. I don't have the box or anything anymore either, surely there is a way to add a password feature or something to access my wireless network. Thanks

Re: How do I security enable my Belkin router?
Hi there, Connect a computer to any one of the four LAN ports of the Belkin wireless
router. DO NOT use a wireless connection, use a cable. Open your web browser and type the IP address of the router (by default,
the address is http://192.168.2.1.) in the address bar and press Enter.
Click Login on the top of the
page to login to the router. By default
the Password is left blank, click Submit. Click Security under Wireless menu. Under Security, Select 64 bit WEP (or 128 bitWEP). Select Key 1 and enter any 10 hexadecimal digits - any combination
of 0-9, A-F (26 digits if you selected 128-bit as the encryption strength). You
may also enter a pass phrase and have the router generate a key for you. Example
(0102030405060708090a0b0c) Apply the
settings. Please write down the key – You will need it later to configure
your wireless computers with the same key. Remember to set an adminpassword before you close down, other vice anyone can access you
router and change the setup and admin password. /regards Teis

The wireless security of the Belkin must have been enabled. Use a computer wired to the router to access the setup page and get the network key. In the address bar of your browser, type192.168.2.1. By default, leave the password blank. Once on the setup page of the router, go to Wireless -> Security. You will see the network key here. On your laptop, view the available wireless networks and you should see your wireless network name or SSID, then when you click connect you have to enter the network key. I hope this helps!
You need to know the wireless settings on the Dlink router first. To check the wireless settings, you need to use a wired computer to the router.
Then in the address bar of a web browser (Internet explorer or firefox), type 192.168.0.1.
By default, the user name is Admin and leave the password empty.
Go to Wireless Settings. Take note of the following:
1. Enable wireless should be checked. 2. Take note of the wireless network name. You may change this into a unique name so that you can easily determine your own wireless network. 3. Visibility status should be Visible. 4. Under Wireless security mode, it depends on you if you would like to enable it or not. If you would like to enable the security, just select WEP. Then enter the WEP Key 1. This is like a password for your wireless network, use letters from A-F and numbers from 0-9.
Then click Save Settings.
Once the belkin wireless adapter is installed properly on your computer, there are 2 ways to connect to your wireless network.
Either you use the Belkin WLAN monitor or the Wireless network connection (for Windows OS). When you view the available networks or Site survey, you will see the wireless network name on your router. It will prompt you for a network key if wireless security is enabled.
Make sure you enter the WEP key 1 in your router. This is case sensitive.
U need to make your wireless network a security enabled network & don't share the wireless network key to a unreliable person.
Steps to create a security enabled wireless network:-
1> login to router setup page;bydefault ip address of belkin router is 192.168.0.1/192.168.2.1
2> Open a internet browser on a hardwired desktop/laptop connected to your router, clear the address bar completely and then type 192.168.0.1 or, 192.168.2.1<it depends on your model no of your router>
3> Go to Wireless Tab,changed the wireless network name(SSID)
4> Change the wireless network key as well;it will be good if you use WEP key if you old XP computer, otherwise use WPA-TKIP if you vista/win7 computers
5> Lastly on your computers, you have to seach wireless network name & give the wireless network key(for the very first time)
In case of any clarity feel free to contact belkin tech support
this is because of the security type WPA enabled in the router...youo can login to router setup page by typing 192.168.2.1 in the internet explorer...click on security (found in the left side, if it asks for password leave it blank and click submit) and change the security type to wep64bit and type any 10digit number as your password in key1...dont type anything other than that in any other boxes....click on apply changes...
now scan and connect your network from iphone and enter security key and login....
also delete the preferred networks from your laptop and scan and connect again....
First RESET your router to defaults. for that press RESET button for 10 seconds RESET button is in back side of router. Then connect your router to computer with ethernet cable. Then you can access it with following link. for belkin routers http://192.168.15.1 for other routers http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1
type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or blank or "password" Then you can see configuration page of router. Set WAN settings as your internet service provider settings. Enable DHCP . CLick on wireless and enable wi fi. If you want secure router then enable WEP security then add new code it is your password key for connect wi fi. Let me know if you need further assistance.
You have to go into the setup for the router. Most default to the 192.168.1.1 IP address. You would type that address into your internet browser and hit enter. Then you will be asked for a name and password. If you have your belkin manual it will tell you the default name and password. Once in the settings you can change the password. You can also turn off SSID broadcasting, enable the highest level of security that your particular router supports in conjunction with your computer and enable MAC authentication. If you enable MAC authentication you have to type in the MAC address for each device you wish to have access to the router.
Hi, Type www.routerlogin.com into your internet address bar. enter your username and password for the router. if you don't know, try admin and password. You can change that to whatever you like, in the router's settings menu. Now go to Security, under Wireless, and change the drop down menu to WEP or WPA or whatever you like. WPA is stronger encryption. Apply. Choose password, write it down somewhere safe, and exit. Done! Chris (ziraffa)
Malicious users can easily capture information transmitted over an
open wireless network. To prevent unauthorized access to your personal
information it needs to be encrypted.
To secure your wireless network some kind of encryption must be
enabled on that network, whether it is WEP, WPA-PSK (or MAC Access
Control List). The most used method (and easiest to configure) is WEP.
Connect a computer to any one of the four LAN ports of the Belkin wireless router.
Open your web browser and type the router IP address of the
router (by default, the address is http://192.168.2.1.) in the address
bar and press Enter.
Click Login on the top of the page to login to the router. By default the Password is left blank, click Submit.
Click Security under Wireless menu.
Under Security, Select 64 bit WEP (or 128 bitWEP).
Select Key 1 and enter any 10 hexadecimal digits - any
combination of 0-9, A-F (26 digits if you selected 128-bit as the
encryption strength). You may also enter a pass phrase and have the
router generate a key for you.
Apply the settings. Please write down the key – You will need it later to configure your wireless computers with the same key.
