Same here, and if it is REMOTELY under exposed it comes out black. no
settings to change anything, everything's automatic. We have another
scanner that scans it perfectly fine, but it takes significantly longer
to copy. We figured this would be a good fix. Any Ideas?

How do I scan multiple documents and email them as one attachment

1. Click PDF on the Custom Scan with One-click tab or click PDF in the one-click mode screen to open the PDF dialog box.
* If you wish to convert the text in a document to editable text data, scan the item with the OCR. The precision of OCR is affected by the nature of the scanned original

2. Select the type of document to be scanned.
Important
To scan correctly, select a document type that matches the document to be scanned.

3. Select a file type to save the scanned image.
Select PDF, PDF(Multiple Pages) or PDF(Add Page)
Important
Click Set... to open a dialog box and specify the PDF compression type and other advanced settings for creating PDF files.
4. Place the first original on the scanner and click the [Scan] button at the right bottom corner of the PDF window.

5. When scanning is completed, place the next original and click the [Scan] button.

6. Repeat scanning by clicking the [Scan] button until you finish all the originals.
7. When all the original is finished, click the [Exit] button.

8. When the scan is complete, it automatically starts the application program that displays PDF files and opens the scanned image file in it.

To scan a text document or black and white document, you are recommended to set the Scan Mode to Black and White or Grayscale.
You are recommended to limit the number of pages in any one multiple PDF file to 20 or less if you are scanning a color document with the Image Quality set to 300 dpi and the size to a setting equivalent to Letter size.

I am new to gimp and most of the instructions I have found on YouTube do not give enough detail or move too fast to follow. I need to clean up the white background of a scanned black & white line...

There is various ways to achieve this.
The quickest way is just to adjust the levels - Go to the menu marked IMAGE then hover over ADJUSTMENTS and to the right should be another menu, containing various options such as LEVELS and CURVES
The easiest option is probably altering the BRIGHTNESS-CONTRAST. (Just up the contrast and up the brightness slowly and you should be able to see the impact on the image). More complex/precise options are available with LEVELS and CURVES. Both are pretty self-explanatory - just play around with the arrows on LEVELS and you will see the image alter. Or on curves, just click on the curve and drag to change the shape/add points.
For high precision, the simplest would be to select a paintbrush from the toolbox and the colour white and just paint over the areas you don't need.

Can't calibrate new Stratford Labs GFP-001

Can't calibrate the new Stratford "Digital Image Copier" GFP-001.
Followed all instalation instructions till I got to the part where it said that the unit had to be calibrated for the first time used. It said to "Click" on the "calibrate" button to perform the calibration,
but there was no calibration button shown, or no on screen desplay pop-up. Would like to know what I can do to rectify this problem. I am using an Acer Laptop with "Vista Home Premium";
which has 2.0 USB Ports which is called for. Does this device need to be calibrated, or can it be used without the required calibration?
Thank you,
Gerry Hall

Lost installation CD

Well, I cannot help you with a disk, but I can offer this insight:

Seems this scanner only works with USB2 ports, and if you only have USB1 ports, you will not have any luck.

Additionally, while I cannot help you with drivers, I have found others who say that Windows XP (and it is assumed Vista) does not need drivers to operate this scanner.

Simply go to the Control Panel, (after it's plugged in to a USB2) and click on Scanners and Cameras. The operating system will guide you through a wizard which will allow you to scan images into your computer.

Once there, however, you are sort of on your own to choose the software you want to edit those images.

good luck

My scanner is only scanning 3/4 of the page

My guess is to line up your document right, usually you will find some arrows on the scanner bed to tell you where the corner of the document goes. It's probably on the other side. Good luck!

Scan Snap - color/balck & white

You don't need to scan the doc again. If you have a graphics editing program (like Photoshop) you can change the mode to Grayscale and resave it. I bet you by now you probably have rescanned it anyway :)

Gifs with white backgrounds

1. open in Photoshop
2. Windows --> layer. Then double click the layer there, click OK the dialog box so that the "background" become "layer"
3. Select the white background. You can use magicwand tool, or if the object you want to keep is not white, you can use "select color--> white"
4. Edit --> clear.
5. safe as gif
