Door Lock
I was wondering if you were ever able to fix your washer. I have the same washer and the same problem. Thanks.

- I did figure out how to open the door, even if the washer doesnt want to open it. If you pull the handle back, there is a grey trigger release behind the handle. Just put a little pressure on it, and the door pops open. I'm guessing that the door lock is the only thing that is broken on mine, because I can still do a load of laundry with it. I just need a screw driver to open the door.Jan 06, 2009
- Glad it worked. Keep me updated on what you are able to find out, if you find out anything new. There is a way to test the various parts of the washing machine, either by running diagnostic tests and/or using a voltage meter. The technical service manual, which I found a PDF of it online somewhere when I first got the washer, explains how.

I wrote a letter to Whirlpool and I am waiting to hear from them. I am not fixing it because it would be less expensive to buy a new one in my case.

The repair man said I needed a new controller but I've never had problems with the machine before...maybe it really is just the latch.

- I did exactly what you said and I was able to open the door!!! So I then tried to do a wash and it worked...at this point I am not sure what to think about the Whirlpool service guy! Thank you so much for your help!! Maybe I still have the controller problem but I am not going to do anything about it right now.
