Cyclone does not function, no suction at the beater head.

With power on in upright position suction goes to the wand as usual, however when the vacuum goes into the sweep mode there is no action in the cyclone, no suction at the beater bar and back pressure coming from the top of the cyclone housing vent. The beater bar switches on and off OK. and the suction to the wand is OK too. I have dismantled the cyclone housing and cleaned it out, I have also washed the pre-filter.  There is still no suction at the beater head and the cyclone has no action. This problem has just started, until then the cleaner was working fine.

SOURCE: Suction not working in upright

Hi.

You will have A blockage in either the wand or hose, completely remove them from machine the hose unclips at the bottom back of machine,
Now switch machine on with this removed if machine sounds ok then remove the blockage from hose or wand.

If machine still poor suction & noisey with hose & wand removed check the (U) shaped inspection port for blockages.

Let me know how you get on.

SOURCE: dyson blowing top of cyclone air release valve.

It sounds like the same problem I was having. I had loss of suction through he hose then all of the air was coming out through the vent/valve on top of canister. If you are looking at your dyson from the back, look at the bottom. You will see a purple plastic tab on the bottom left. That allows you to remove the plastic u-shaped hose that goes from the hose to the bottom of the dyson. I just removed that and found it was completley blocked. I removed it and the dyson has no loss of suction orair through top valve/vent. I hope this helps. I never post but i'm just excited that I got my dyson working perfectly again.

SOURCE: beater bar on Dyson upright won't turn when handle is lowered

I have finally fixed my sister's dyson dc 15 beater bar problem. It was just 2 tiny broken wires connect to circuit board lead to the beater bar. The wires broke where they go through the black rubber gommet. You need a torx screwdriver tx 15 to remove 2 plastic covers to access the wires. When looking at the front of the vacuum, the gray covers located on the right side of the vacuum. 1 big cover with a black rubber gasket and other small gray cover is on the rotating ball area.
This my new year resolution is to warn people not to buy Dyson vacuum cleaner ( Junk) design to break down! Shame on you Dyson!!!! Save your money find good old vacuum cleaner with metal parts.

OLD IS IN NEW IS JUNK!

Happy New Year!

I have a kenmore model 116.25512506. The roller is spinning but no suction from the head. The attachments have suction but not the head. How do I remove bottom cover to check for blockage?

Is the suction control plastic ring shut?. If it's wide open you get almost no suction. See picture.
25823072-bhx41vpbxgcw2fhkwng0wody-1-0.jpg If that is closed check the long metal wand. Disconnect from the beater bar head and check the whole length of the wand and look into the beater bar head opening for something plugging it.

Attachment Pole will not stay in down position and loses suction.

There is a wand catch that holds the attachment pole to the unit. It's above the power switch. It easily comes off and Sears has it for a pretty cheap price like $3. Without this wand catch the handle attachment pole does not stay put. Good Luck

If I do not have any suction, is it the motor . I changed the clutch. My brushes are rolling and checked for blocks . What is my next step?

Hi there are several reasons, motor failing could be one but if it is spinning it will be sucking, look in the short flexible hose for a block, pull out the inspection bend and the double clip unit at the side and check these. Are all you seals in place and not leaking? With the vacuum cleaner in the upright position turn it on is the air being sucked into the hand wand? if it sucks here then blockage is before the diverter which is in the lower part. If the suction is low in the upright positon, did you remove the bin and cyclone and seperate the two? there is likely a build up of dust etc. in the cyclone. There are also pleanty of Youtube video's. If it is all clean and clear borrow a similar unit and swap over the bin/cylone and the various interchangeable parts, finally have you replaced the filters?

When the dyson is turned on the suction goes to the wand when you tip the beater down you do not have as much suction you cant pick up lint.

The Dyson system is designed to operate the hose with the handle in the upright position. When the head is tipped down (floor vacuum position) it closes the opening to the hose/wand

Dyson DC07 bagless - upright mode v poor suction, wand mode ok

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

From your description of the problem, it sounds as though the bleed valve is activating which only happens when there is a blockage.

We would recommend following the full blockage through as outlined in your user guide or in the Support section on our website at www.dyson.com.

Kind regards
Darran
