Dell Inspiron 6000 PC Notebook, No Wifi Radio Signal
Dell Inspiron 6000 Notebook: A few days ago my wifi signal suddenly did not show up. Blue tooth signal is still on. Fn+F2 only turn blue tooth signal on or off. Does it mean that my wifi card is dead? Help. Thanks

It is not a switch
look on the keyboard and look at 'F2' button and press it
this is the button which turns on the wifi
note the f2 key says f2 in blue and then shows a wifi signal icon in
white also note a blue square box appears as you switch on and off your
wifi connection in the bottom right hand corner...
Some wireless cards are better than others at picking up weaker signals.
The problem with any wireless transmissions is that radio signals cannot pass through metallic surfaces.
You should position your wireless router away from metallic surfaces/walls and position your laptop so it can receive the radio signals without it passing through any metallic walls. If possible place the wireless router higher than at desk level.
built in wifi cards are very limited in range, get an external pc card
then you can get an antenna to connect to that if needed.
I use both and find the external card is best in reception.
you can connect an antenna to the internal card but you will have to leave the access panel open or make a hole in it.
