John there is only one heating element.ither it works or it dosent.when acustomer complains of low heat or long dry times 99out of100 its the venting or the dryer is blocked with lint.remove the dryer from the venting and try a load.if better clean house venting.you .........if not better you should have a great air flow leaving the dryer so if not drying well with venting off.take dryer apart a clean all araes that air is moving, where lint can block that flow.god bless .tom

It takes at least 2 cycles to dry clothes. It is Roper heavy duty high capacity electric dryer. Thank you for any help you can give me. janebellard@yahoo.com

Check for air restrictions which cause the heat control to shut down faster than normal.
When the moisture cannot be removed fast enough the heat builds up and has nowhere to go so the heat control stays off longer and the clothes just tumble on.

Can you hear a click like always? If not then it has to be either the fuse, ignitor,or sensor. If you hear it clicking then the operator coils are dead. HERE is a link that shows pictures of these parts and locations.

Warm air but clothes not drying

Make sure u have seleced the high heat setting..The fact that it is heating more or less indicates that the element is o/k.
Check and clean any filter(s) that u can see,it is more likely to be a thermostat problem than anything else. and there are at least 2 of them, also check line voltage is correct.
Plz rate this solution.
thanks.

You didn't mention if the motor runs or if it heats. If it does both of these, you'll need a new belt.

Kenmore heavy duty clothes dryer will not heat

You really need a volt / ohm meter to check for Continuity & Volts Its well worth the investment... $15.00 bucks give or take a few I would check to see if you have 220v to back of dryer where the cord mounts to dryer, If dryer is getting only 1 leg 110 volts instead of the 220 will it not heat. Check themostates & heater for Continuity... Most models, Now have a.. Hi-limit fuses that need to be checked for Continuity
