Testimonial: "Thanks. I was afraid it would be one of those high $$ solutions (sounds like $200-$300). Thanks for the insight."

There is a defrost drain hose down on the bottom of your freezer. Different makes do things slightly differently, but if you take everything out of your freezer and let it thaw completely, everything will go back to working normally (most likely). However, while you have it thawed and cleared, you should locate that drain hose and clean it out. They generally get a bit of slim growing in them after some time this slim can get thick enough that it makes less area to have to freeze-over.

Your water that stopped working and started working again almost certainly was just suffering from a frozen feed-line. Other than taking the door apart and trying to insulate the line there is not much you can do about that. I suppose you could try running your freezer a little warmer...just a little. Also, keeping those door shelves really loaded with stuff that turns to hard ice seems to help cause this. This is likely because there is just not quite enough defrost taking place in the door with a lot of ice keeping it cold. Poor design, I know.

If this has been helpful I hope you'll take a sec to rate me. Thanks!

ICE MAKER NOT WORKING LBC22518WW (LG REFRIGERATION)

Hello, just like your problem, our ice maker just stopped making ice. We solved the problem by unplugging the refrigerator for about 2 hours leaving the freezer door open.

It started making ice a few minutes after plugging it back in. Obviously the line that supplies the water had frozen and this allowed it to un-freeze.

We didn't remove any of the frozen items in the freezer, at the two hour mark, everything in the freezer was still mostly frozen.

Thanks

I have a lg lfx25960sb,it is showing ER IF code on the panel above ice /water door, also not making ice?

ER IF indicates that the ice maker fan is not working. The fan is probably frozen. Remove the fan duct and housing at the back of the freezer and you may be able to defrost the ice in the fan enclosure. It will not defrost sufficiently by turning the freezer off for 2 to 4 hours as LG suggests. The fan may have frozen because of high humidity or because the defrost cycle is not working. If your unit is still under warranty LG should fix it by replacing the fan, duct panel and control board with new ones that have been re-engineered to prevent this problem.

Ice cube maker not working. digital display not

The ice fan is frozen. It is located behind the rear panel inside the freezer2.gif drawer. I had the same problem with an LG refrigerator in November 2008 that was fixed under warranty. (There is a Kenmore model that is made by LG.) They replaced the fan and housing, and the panel duct assembly (both because a design revision provided a way to drain the water that was freezing the fan), and the main controller board (presumably because there was a new defrost program, but also because of the Energy Star settlement.) If your refrigerator is out of warranty, you can remove the freezer drawer to get at the panel behind it. Remove and defrost the fan housing. Drill some small holes in the bottom of the fan housing for drainage. Put it back together and see if that solves the problem.

Lg frost free fridge freezer gr-399sq

on the back wall inside the freezer unscrew the white panel and then remove the panel behind this . you should now see a tray that runs the width of the freezer with a driphole on the left-hand side which will probably be frozen with ice , chip away whatever is possible and then put boiling water on the driphole and once this is clear you should find the problem sorted , 1 other option is to turn the fridge/freezer off for several days and this will allow the ice build-up to thaw thus resolving the problem
