Question about GE Spectra JGBP35 Gas Kitchen Range

Oven and Broiler not working

I have a GE Spectra XL44 oven that suddenly is not working. The top burners are working with no issues, however the oven and broiler are not. We used the oven 2 days ago with no issues, however when we tried to use it yesterday it didn't work. I do not smell gas when I try to start either the oven or broiler. We did no cleaning or moving of the oven in that time.

I suspect that since the neither the oven or broiler will light that I can rule out the respective ignitors (what's the chance that both are suddenly not working?) and that it's something upstream of that, possibly the control board?

Anyone had similar problems or experiences and how did you solve?

Does anyone have a link to good schematics for this oven? I found the user guide online, but the diagrams are not very clear/detailed. For example, if it is the control board, where is it in the oven?

Thanks for your help.

I have the seme problem. We used the oven on New Year's Eve and it was fine. New Year's day the oven would not work. Our unit has a circuit board at the top that normally has the clock and also controls the oven. This shows no display and seems to be the source of the problem. I took the stove apart and can see that there is power going to the circuit board, but it is not responding. Very strange if this problem showed up the same day on different units - planned obsolesence?

I think my problem is a bit different, the clock display works and I can turn the oven on by selecting Bake and then the temp. That's when the problem starts for me, the oven doesn't heat up. Same scenario with Broiler. The stove top works with no issues.

The gas supply valve to the oven/broiler is the likely culprit. It is a separate valve from the stovetop. I've had the same problems and had to replace mine twice now. They are very expensive, (about 100 dollars) considering the cost of the whole stove. It is located
inside the broiler drawer on the very back wall.

GE XL44 Oven and stovetop work - broiler does not work

The broiler is the top element in the oven. Look at it. Bad ones sometimes have burnt into or have a melted spot. If it looks ok take it out by removing the screws at the back and pull the wires out a little and unplug the element. With an ohm meter it should show continuity. Replace it if any of these things apply.

The oven pilot does not light. The broiler will not work. The only thing that does is the light. GE XL44 range. The burners light and the pilots stay lit.

If you have standing pilots, make sure the pilot for the oven/broiler is lit as well.  When you turn the thermostat up to call for heat, you should see the pilot get larger. That larger pilot flame heats a hydraulic sensor and opens the main burner valve.

Lower oven burner will not light.

Hi I have a older GE that the oven won't light. It is a gas range that is electric ignited. The top burners do work but the oven will not light. Is it pricey to have this fixed?

Resettle the small center tops on the burners. If even one is slightly off center or not level, a burner will not light, although it will click. Cost me a service call to learn this!
