After installing it, I tried to used it but a windows error keeps on appearing. Also, i uninstalled it and re-installed and the same problem keeps occuring. Also, because of that i can't really do anything with the webcam --- it doesn't let me have a webcam conversation with anyone. I don't know what im supposed to do with this. I don't know if its because of my windows vista or something im not sure.
My computer does recognize the ca,era, but the software installed don't.

There may be a clash between lifecam and MSN. close MSN and alll other IMs. uninstall lifecam. restart the PC, install webcam SW with the cam unplugged. After installation plug the cam ina USB port and let Windows read the drivers and install the cam, Once that is done, now you can configure the cam in your IMs one by one.
Have you uninstalled all the old webcam software on your pc ? Download Revo and scan your computer for any webcam software - uninstall whatever you find. http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html
Back this up with a manual scan - Start > Computer >> Local disk (C) >>Program files Look for any folders that may be webcam related especially Lifecam delete the folder if found. Install software from Microsoft support. Select your OS and type Your webcam model into the search box Close all programs when installing software and dis-connect webcam.
you may have encountered that blue screen of death error because of an IRQ conflict. this cane be caused by a conflicting resource for computer components. much like 1 car battery being used by 2 cars at the same time.
o have this resolved, it is best that you have the camera replaced with another model or you can try to remove other USB devices plugged into your computer until you find out what is causing the error message or the conflict to your new Life Cam.\
Having Nero installed can cause this problem. This is from the Microsoft Knowledge base. There are some other programs that can cause this problem. Search "Lifecam Program" I believe I have tracked the problem down to this. I have not uninstalled Nero yet, But Nero crashes when trying to launch it video utilities. So at this point I am presuming that tere is a conflict.
I purchaased MS Lifecam from Walmart at a bargain price of $50.00 yesterday. I quickly installed the s/w on my windows 2003 XP under 5 mins. The camera worked for exactly 20 mins. I opted out from installing the Live Messanger ( don't need it). However the s/w crashed within 20 mins, complaining of a fatal error, which it could not Debug, but insisted on sending off the report to MS..which I declined. After trying to reload the s/w on the same computer for 3 more times, which involved remove and re-install..I finally gave up on the 2003 XP. I then tried to load the s/w on my windows 7 laptop..got the same error message. After messing with it for at least 5 hours, and ruining half my day, I returned the product back to walmart and got my money back. What a scam!! The MS Support site tells you to reinstall windows 7 and then try to reload the d- -n!! s/w again. What kind of Freaking solution is that??!! BTW I have plenty of space on laptop, 80 gigs..so space was not an issue.
