My LifeCam 1.4 won't work

After installing it, I tried to used it but a windows error keeps on appearing. Also, i uninstalled it and re-installed and the same problem keeps occuring. Also, because of that i can't really do anything with the webcam --- it doesn't let me have a webcam conversation with anyone. I don't know what im supposed to do with this. I don't know if its because of my windows vista or something im not sure. My computer does recognize the ca,era, but the software installed don't.

Sorry, but my Operating Sistem isn't Vista. It's Windows XP SP2. Sorry for forgetting to mention that, but i understand that these cameras work even under this sistem. Maybe is a solution for this.

  • aldancocos Jan 02, 2009

Also, when I try to fix the problem in Device Manager, this comment appears: "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)"

  • aldancocos Jan 03, 2009

    Sorry, the same ****.
Even Windows sees the device, appears a message, that during the instalation, an error ocurred and the device may not work properly.
    Any new ideas?

This website contains the solution for the EXACT problem you describe. I had the same problem and stumbled across it and it helped a lot.
It's pretty easy.

Open up regedit (Start -> run -> type: regedit, hit enter)

Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlClass{6BDD1FC6-810F-11D0-BEC7-08002BE2092F}

Double click on "LowerFilters" delete any value found. (Should be: lvmvdrv or LVUSBSta).

restart your computer.
Should work now.

Uninstall the software completely - the installation never completed or caused a conflict, hence the error message. Once uninstalled, restart the computer and reinstall the software. Make sure your webcam is not plugged in during this process. After the installation is complete, restart if the program asks you to. Otherwise, plug the camera back into the computer and see if the error message persists.

If you are running the software from a CD, it is possible that the software on the CD is corrupt. You can get a clean version of the software from Microsoft here:

    http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/downlo...

Also, here is Microsoft's complete information on Code 19 Errors:

Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. To fix this problem you can first try running a Troubleshooting Wizard. If that does not work, you should uninstall and then reinstall the hardware device. (Code 19)
    Recommended resolutions

    A registry problem was detected.

This can occur when more than one service is defined for a device, if there is a failure opening the service subkey, or if the driver name cannot be obtained from the service subkey. Here are some things that you can try to resolve this problem.

    Uninstall and reinstall the driver

Uninstall the driver from Device Manager and scan for new hardware to install the driver again.

You may be prompted to provide the path of the driver. Windows may have the driver built-in, or may still have the driver files installed from the last time that you set up the device. However, sometimes, it will open the New Hardware Wizard which may ask for the driver. If you are asked for the driver and you do not have it, you can try to download the latest driver from the hardware vendor’s Web site.

    1. On the device Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab, and then click Uninstall. Follow the instructions.
    2. Restart your computer.
    3. Open Device Manager, click Action, and then click Scan for hardware changes. Follow the instructions.

Cant connect to lifecam

There may be a clash between lifecam and MSN. close MSN and alll other IMs. uninstall lifecam. restart the PC, install webcam SW with the cam unplugged. After installation plug the cam ina USB port and let Windows read the drivers and install the cam, Once that is done, now you can configure the cam in your IMs one by one.

I have tried to install the software that is given from the link and several others but it keeps appearing an error message saying there is an error during installation. What can I do?

Have you uninstalled all the old webcam software on your pc ?
Download Revo and scan your computer for any webcam software - uninstall whatever you find.
http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html

Back this up with a manual scan - Start > Computer >> Local disk (C) >>Program files
Look for any folders that may be webcam related especially Lifecam
delete the folder if found.
Install software from Microsoft support. Select your OS and type Your webcam model into the search box
Close all programs when installing software and dis-connect webcam.

Blue screen appears when I instal Microsoft nx-6000 cam

hi adrian,

thank you for using fixya.

you may have encountered that blue screen of death error because of an IRQ conflict. this cane be caused by a conflicting resource for computer components. much like 1 car battery being used by 2 cars at the same time.

o have this resolved, it is best that you have the camera replaced with another model or you can try to remove other USB devices plugged into your computer until you find out what is causing the error message or the conflict to your new Life Cam.\

hope this helps.

regards.

Error Msg: Problem occure during Hardware installation

Having Nero installed can cause this problem. This is from the Microsoft Knowledge base. There are some other programs that can cause this problem. Search "Lifecam Program" I believe I have tracked the problem down to this. I have not uninstalled Nero yet, But Nero crashes when trying to launch it video utilities. So at this point I am presuming that tere is a conflict.

Software Installation of Microsoft LifeCam VX-6000 terminates with an error "Insufficient free space"

I purchaased MS Lifecam from Walmart at a bargain price of $50.00 yesterday. I quickly installed the s/w on my windows 2003 XP under 5 mins. The camera worked for exactly 20 mins. I opted out from installing the Live Messanger ( don't need it). However the s/w crashed within 20 mins, complaining of a fatal error, which it could not Debug, but insisted on sending off the report to MS..which I declined. After trying to reload the s/w on the same computer for 3 more times, which involved remove and re-install..I finally gave up on the 2003 XP. I then tried to load the s/w on my windows 7 laptop..got the same error message. After messing with it for at least 5 hours, and ruining half my day, I returned the product back to walmart and got my money back. What a scam!! The MS Support site tells you to reinstall windows 7 and then try to reload the d- -n!! s/w again. What kind of Freaking solution is that??!! BTW I have plenty of space on laptop, 80 gigs..so space was not an issue.

Uninstall Windows Vista. Do a fresh install of Windows XP Professional Sp2. Download XP drivers and install camera. Many software programs have trouble initializing in Windows Vista. Good luck!
