blinking lamp means that there is an error inside the set. When it blinks 5 times that means
1) C672 (0,047uF/600V) is bad
2) check the diode D503 (by replacing)
3) something is bad on a 135 Volt rail
If you need more info you can contact me at LIVE session.
Hello, have you checked the fuses on the y sustain board and the x sustain board to see if they are blown? If one is blown you will need to replace the whole board because if you replace the fuse chances are it will blow the control board. Hope this helps.

solve the problem along with model number to fix your tv
I was in a live chat session with you yesterday. Here's the list of tv repair services in Montgomery, ALbama http://www.fixya.com/repair/tvs/us/al/montgomery Also please rate this transcript if you found the session informative. http://www.fixya.com/support/c36592-rca_tv_suddenly_turns
Even with the tv turned off, the power supply is still active. It's supplying voltages to the microcontroler, that's why each time you press the power button on remote the tv respond by turning on. First check the power cord to be well connected in the power-bar and if it's ok...well the power supply is defective and due to the high risk of electric shock i suggest you to call a technicien.
P.S. I respond here because I don't know why our chat session got disconected.
