Mine did the same thing. I think it's a bad contact situation. I ended cleaning all the contact springs in the battery compartments and also putting a small dab of silicon on each battery before re-fitting the cover plate. This made sure the batteries were nice and snug in their housings. Make sure the batteries all have have the positive symbol (+) upwards when you refit them. You can also check the centrifugal switch. This is located under a triangular plastic cover. If you hold the batteries in place with your thumb, you can gently push the tiny weight against its contact and the laser should light up. DON'T LOOK DIRECTLY INTO THE LASER WHILE YOU DO THIS!!! This worked for me but I can't give any guarantees but, hey, what have you got to lose? Good luck.

I had a similar problems and I had my batter replace by Hp free of charge. Most like your batter could be damage internally or it could be a motherboard problem.

My charging port seems to not work

My advise to you is if you have Sandisk Sansa m240 it does not come with a chargeable battery so you cannot charge it,replace it and your problem will go away. I replaced my unit with a rechargeable battery and I have no more battery problems. I charge my batter in a charger when needed.
