I and trying to find where to find the IP address for my printer. It is a Brother MFC-7220 model. I am setting up a small network at work and need to use this printer from multiple computers. Where can I find the IP address for this printer?
Network printers do not have a set IP address, you need to configure the printer with an IP address that uses the same range of IP addresses as your network.
The IP configuration is normally done through the printer's Menu on the printer's buttons.
If your are using a network IP range 192.168.0.*** that your wireless router issues automatically then select a fixed IP address on your printer above the number of computers that is installed on your network. (ie if you have 10 computers the make the printer's fixed IP address say 192.168.0.30) so the wireless router cannot issue a conflicting IP address.
When you install the printer driver on each computer then go to the Printer Properties - Port tab - click Add Port - IP port and enter the printer's fixed IP address and printer name.
Do a test print to check if your computer connects to the network printer.
do you know how to network a 7420 fax ?
SOURCE: connect to network printer
Are you positive it is a HL 2040? The 2040 only has parallel and usb ports. The HL 2070 has the network port.
Anyway, if it is already being printed to on the network from other printers go to one of the other PC's and look under the printer properties tab, go to the ports tab and see which IP address has a checkmark in the box......that is the IP address you will need...
If it isn't already setup on another PC then you will need the setup CD that has the BRAdmin Professional Software.
SOURCE: Brother MFC 8860 has ip conflict
Each IP-address on a network (private in your home, or public on the Internet) must be unique; hence "IP conflict" when two devices (computers or printers or iPod Touch) try to "claim" the same IP-address.
If you have configured a "static" IP-address into the printer, change it to an IP-address that is *NOT* used on your network.
Or, find the computer on your network that is using the same IP-address as your printer, and change its IP-address and reboot it.
In order to connect, your computer and your computer *MUST* have *DIFFERENT* IP-addresses.

When you purchase a new router you must change your security settings to accept that program so it can be ran to work with your os please check your firewall settings to see if they are blocking any new router installs you can do this by selecting start-programs then go to security settings and check your network connections and settings for your security settings.
