Cannot connect to internet although it says it's connected to net
Something's wrong somewhere between my HP Pavilon with Windows Vista Home Premium (with Norton 360 v2.0) and the Zyxel Prestige 600HW wireless router. My other PC (this one) with Windows XP have no problems connecting to internet thru the same router. How come ?
Thanx in advance.

Vista has a well known flaw of not allowing you to easily change access rights after selecting "public network" in the initial network connection screens. The easiest fix is to change the name of your wifi access point, reconnect, and be absolutely certain to select "home network" when the prompt comes up.
The best solution however is to ditch that crummy excuse for an operating system and upgrade to Windows 7 or 8.
goto your friends has and internet connection or goto internet cafe and download the model or series and the brand of your laptop search from the google or go directly to the website of the brand of your laptop for example: if your laptop is a dell, acer, toshiba, asus, just go to the website then search the model and series of your laptop
HI! all your computer is connected except for one, you are connected to to the local network but cant get an internet connection, I dont see any problem with your wireless connection bcoz you are connected to the lan, check the security settings of your browser on your windows vista, go to internet option and security, lower it down to medium security, so that you can access the internet or try using other browser like firefox or google chrome.. check your firewall settings as well on your windows vista..
Go to the router configuration and change the options so you could use both of them, there is an option says only one type of connection or both of them, change it to both, and everything will be fine.
You're laptop needs to have a profile for the router. Go to Network and Sharing Center, Manage Wireless Networks. Please remove all the listed networks there. Now click on Add, then Add a Network in Range of this Computer. Select the wireless name of your router and connect. If it asks for a network key, please type your wireless security key then connect. That should do it.

However, even though the hard wired base unit works, my wireless laptop can't access the internet - even though a full stregnth signal is there when i browse for wireless connections. Using Vista Home Premium. Help appreciated!
i strongly recommend if you try calling your isp provider again, i blv they actually have specialist trained for 2wire connection, you just have to ask for them...vista still has compatibility issues, did your router worked wireless with other pc like xp?..i hope you'll have this resolved already...
