Question about Crosley CR248 Turntable

1 Answer

What replacement cartridge should be used on Crosley 245 Director

The Crosley 245 Director I am fixing had no cartridge when it came to me, and I am having trouble finding a replacement that fits. I can't tell if it was a P-mount or a 1/2 inch to begin with either

Manual for crosley record player model CR6249A-G1

The cartridge rear usually has markings on it for ground, and right and left channels. Use a continuity meter to identify the wires and then connect to appropriate pins on cartridge. They may be color coded with red for right, and black for ground and another color for the other channel.

Can i use a crosley stylus in my detrola km837 record player

Stylus will only fit into certain cartridges. You have two options here. You can look up the cartridge number and make on your Detrola. It should be on the cartridge somewhere. Then search for the stylus. Or you can remove the Detrola cartridge and fit a new cartridge and stylus. As long as the cartridge will fit into the arm of your deck, plus it's the right type - ie: magnetic if the old cartridge was magnetic! Or ceramic - again if the old cartridge was...
Then you can use any make or model cartridge you want. As the quality of the sound can be improved - albeit paying more money for it - by having a good quality cartridge and stylus, it might be best in the long run to change the cartridge.

The stylus on our C.R. 2406-PA director is broke off and we don't know where to go to replace it.

I would sugguest old record stores meaning like those mom n pop old vinyl stores. or attempting to contact the maker to see if they have a part or know of a place that has the part. or antique shops!

I just bought a replacement needle for a Crosley CR66 4 in 1 record player and now my records sound distorted and far away

It might be that you have caused an earth wire to the cartridge to come off or loose. Check the connections to the cartridge.

I have a Crosley 6005a. In turntable mode - sound is tinny and needs to be turned way up to hear it and it is not in stereo. Is this just the way it is or can I fix it. I bought it second hand

Check all conections to the turntable, also I think you should buy a new cartridge as a matter of course. I rather suspect it's (the cartridge) either **** or gone!

Tone arm retracts before recording is complete (CR-245)

actual old units (not sure about modern nostalgics) sometimes had a lever that said 7 or 12 inches for 45's or 33's this would tell the mechanism when to set down the arm. If your unit does not have something like this then it sounds like an internal failure that would require it being opened by a tech or sent in for warranty repair.
