Question about Bosch 24 in. SHY56A05 Stainless Steel Built-In Dishwasher

Motor running noise

Whenever I push the on button, my dishwasher makes a humming sound like a running motor nonstop. I have tried flipping the breaker on it, and that had no effect. It seems like it is stuck in one of the cycle steps. I have noticed in the last few days that every once in awhile there would be standing water in the bottom of the dishwasher. I have 3 boys, so I just figured they must have interrupted the cycle in some way. I would start the cycle over and it would seem to complete. I also noticed an odor on completed cycles at times. It is stuck at the moment. Any help would be appreciated, especially a reset or something of this nature.

Same here. Mine won't drain, smells, and hums when you push the power button - even when the door is open. I bailed out the water and the humming stopped. It all started after I changed the garbage disposal and disconnected and reconnected the discharge hose. I just found a Bosch article on making sure the hose is 20" above the drain pan and to put a loop in it. Nothing to lose, so will give it a try as well as priming the pump by putting water down the hose - so much came out when I disconnected it that I may have created some sort of air gap.

The humming noise and the fact that there is standing water indicates that the motor is stuck and trying to break free. Is the odor that you mentioned smell like a heated coil? This is a common problem with dishwahsers; but does not have an easy fix. If you want to try, first disconnect the power supply and open the bottom panel (below the door), Normally held by some screws. Then with a flashlight see if you can see the motor housing. You can then reach under and manually rotate the motor to break it free. Do it a few times and then reconnect the power and run the dishwasher and hopefully it will work. -Vish

Duet dryer is making a humming noise when cycle starts a d during

whenever i hear a humming sound in a dryer it's usually the motor or something caught in the blower wheel stopping the motor from the door and see if you can spin the drum.if it spins by hand try this, open the door, push in the door switch with one hand, have someone push the start button while you hold in the door switch and spin the drum by hand helping it move,if it runs you have a bad motor,if it doesn't remove the bottom panel and see if the belt is broke and stuck in the motor but like i say usually it has something to do with the motor not spinning.hope this helps

Dishwasher starts then pauses and drains.

Fixed! I had the issue where the cycle would start, the KUDS30IXBL8 would hum 4-5 times and then drain. Plastic folk pieces jammed in the disposer. These instructions took a few minutes (only 5 screws and a couple clips) to figure out how to take it apart, and it only took 60 seconds to put back together. usually the humming sound is coming from the motor, try this, open the door, turn the drum with one hand and hold the door switch in with your other hand and have someone else push the start button at the same time, this might help the motor turn on but if it does you need a new motor,if you can't turn the drum you could have something stuck in the blower wheel or something jammed in the motor like a broken belt but like i said a humming sound is usually the motor.

Fridgeair dishwasher not working making loud sound. water comes in and I can make it drain out but washer does not start

bearings in the heater fan may get worn out or rust. If this happens, it may become very noisy, either grinding on the bearings, or scraping against the rust. If this happens you need to replace the fan motor. Sometimes, a fan blade may come loose, and you need to replace it.
Sometimes it's the motor that makes the noise you hear. The motor has bearings in it which may become worn or get rusty. When the bearings get worn, they allow the shaft to wobble which can get quite loud. If there is a spin seal leak, water may get inside the motor, washing the bearing grease away. If the spin seal is leaking, you'll notice water leaking from under the dishwasher. There is also a disc attached to the top of the motor called a slinger. It sometimes breaks off and spins around the motor's shaft while it turns, causing some noises. You will need to replace the motor if the bearings are bad. You also need to replace the motor if the slinger is broken as well.

Newer dishwashers may make a squealing or rattling noise on the first run. This is because it has not had any water in it yet, and the motor seals are dry. You may hear this in a unit that hasn't been run in a week or more as well. You should operate the dishwasher regularly to keep the sump water from getting smelly, and to keep the seals lubricated. You can add a quart of water to the sump before running it.

Rattling noises may be produced by dishes rattling inside the dishwasher due to the water pressure from the sprayer arms on the dishes. To determine if the rattling is a loading issue, run the unit empty. If the sound is persistent, it may be that there is debris in the pump.

dishwasher water-inlet valves are noted to make a hum that lasts about 60-90 seconds several times during a washing cycle. This hum is a different hum than the sound of the motor running.

A rhythmic knocking or thumping sound may be caused the sprayer arms hitting something as they go around and around. Rearrange the dishes and resume the wash.

A clunking or clanking may be heard when the detergent cup opens; while a clicking sound may be produced by the timer or electronic control panel.

A solenoid makes a snap sound when it opens. This happens about six times during each load.

Pipes rattling or banging may be caused by a water hammer effect. Water hammer sounds are caused by a valve closing in the system, and yet the water in the pipe is still flowing because of its kinetic energy. The sound is caused by the water slamming into the closed section of pipe. A plumber can install an anti-hammer device.

Small objects can sometimes get stuck in the pump. When this occurs, you'll need to open the pump and then remove the item that is making the noise or replace the pump. The dishwasher pump is usually mounted directly to the motor and runs off the motor as well. The pump is also attached to the bottom of your dishwasher.

After my dishwasher fills with water, and starts to run, the motor is making alot of noise. Its loud and I'm afarid to run it. Could the motor be bad?

Hello & Welcome to FixYa
If you hear a loud hum/buzz sound from the bottom of the unit then it is the motor that is bad and if the hum comes from the control then it is the timer/electronic control that is bad and needs replacement. However, after reading your question I believe it is the motor that needs replacement. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

Dishwasher fills with hot water then does nothing

Do you get any humming noise when you turn it ON?

How long its been you used the dishwasher last time...?

If you are getting an humming noise then Sounds like the water circulator pump is stuck. The motor tries to turn it (humming noise), but cannot. So a breaker trips (self reset). Not claiming this is actually the problem, but this is what the motor turns.

Frigidaire dishwasher model GLD2445RFCO is making noise

I have the same problem with my dishwasher. If you remove the kick plate while it is running, There is an electric motor underneath. If you push up and pull forward on the electric motor, the noise will stop. I used a block to prop it up and the noise stopped. You may want to try it.

it sounds like you have a bad motor and door switch. the unit should not run unless you push a start button. the humming noise is the motor. either something is blocking it or your motor is bad,
