If the dryer is gas the first thing to check is the igniter the most common solution. If it is electric the first thing to do is check your circuit breakers it takes to for an electric dryer one to run one to heat.

Samsung gas dryer dv209 won't heat. I turned on/off breaker, unpluged dryer, cleaned vent and hose, checked gas line and it still won't heat. Everything else on it works fine.

electronic igniter is probably bad Look on the right side bottom and you may see an access.
It's not in the same place on all models but is is always at the bottom of the unit

My dryer is about 7-8 years old. It has been taking longer to dry clothes for a little while now but within the last few days will not heat up. Spins fine, just no heat. Breakers are good.Any solutions?

Have you cleaned the blower vent pipes lately. Sounds like the vents may be stopped up with lint and it got too hot. Clean vents and where the fan blade is to be sure the fan can turn. I have found everything you can think of in the blower housing that would keep the fan from turning.Be sure and get the lint out they all have some. As far as the heat not working check all thermastats , the thermal fuse on blower box and thermal cutoff usely on the heater box. and the heater coil also check with an ohmeter from heater coil connections to the metal box it's in ,the coil could be grounded inside the box.
Hope this helps.

WHEN I TURN THE DRYER ON THE HEATING ELEMENT HEATS UP. THE GAS TURNS ON FOR 17 SECONDS THEN TURNS OFF.IN ONE MIN. THE ELEMENT HEATS UP AGAIN THE GAS TURNS ON FOR 7 SECONDS.

the most important think in a dryer is the vent that goes out side,if this is not clean the burner will keep going on and off,try this unplug the vent and then try it,if it works fine then you know its ,your vent clean vent, then put vent back on,all gas dryers have to be vented outside

No heat

check the vents ductwork It maybe clogged up full of lint causing the heating sensor to work properly. If clogged up and cleaned it will work again for you

I have a roper dryer. I took it apart today

Remove all duct work connected to this dryer. Clean thoroughly. You will find amass of lint inside of it causing your problem. If not the moister sensor is not working properly and needs to be replaced.
I do hope you will find a clogged vent tube for it is easier to clean the tube than to replace the sensor. The sensor is a fail safe part. It keeps the dryer from catching on fire when the lint tube is clogged up

My dryer is working, but it's not heating

pull the vent line off the back of dryer and see if it helps, also the duct that the lint filter slides into could be loaded with lint, when was the last time you cleaned out the dryer?sounds like from what you said when you had the top off it worked better because you had better air movement with the top off.go out side and check the vent,if it's a long run from the back of the dryer to the outside vent i use a leaf blower to blow out the vent line, you also need to vac out the inside of dryer where the motor is,if you have a shop vac blow off the motor and blow through the inside vent to clean out the heating duct and vac out the back of the drum, you should take it apart and clean it out once a year so the dryer will run correctly

My dryers works when cold but stops working after it heats up.

does everything shut off or just heat if its just heat but motor works and drum is turning than-quickest sulotion would be cleaning the vents from the dryer and out through the wall or window whereever your vent goes. the reason it turns off is because it has a limit thermostat that turns off at about 150 degrees so when the vents are clogged the hot air cant escape anywhere so it stays in dryer and overheats quickly take off the vent in the back than turn on your dryer if it doesnt turn off clean your vents

if everything stops working than you most likely have a bad motor
good luck  feel free to reply with any questions

There is heat but not enough to dry the clothes

Remove the connecting vent on the rear and try it.
If that works clean the connecting vent and the wall vent.
If it does not work, replace the gas valve coils.
