Question about Philips FWC399 CD Shelf System

1 Answer

Sound Level Changes Constantly

If I have my Philips FWC399 system on anything (radio, aux or CD) the volume will increase or decrease at will. I can start it off at level 8 and eventually it will decrease to what sounds like level 3 or 4. If I cutoff system completely it may go back to volume level 8 or stay at that low level. It will never increase at a volume level higher than what I put. I have tried making sure the speaker wires are in good, but that doesn't help.

How do i hook up my i pod up to a mcm530 philips stereo system?

If it has an aux imput all you need to do is get a dock (which will keep the battery charged while playing) or the cheaper way - by connecting a 3.5mm plug to two RCA phono plugs- lead. The 3.5mm plug goes into the headphone output of the I-Pod and the RCA's go into the Aux imput of the Philips.
It can be any imput on the amp (except phono) such as CD or tape.
You will find that you need to turn up the volume on the I-Pod to hear the sound.

I have an Aiwa cx-nma545 that I just hooked up to a Westinghouse SK-32h640g. The sound is very muffled. The sound is fine if I have it on cd or the radio but when on Aux Video I can barely here it.

On most TV's with speaker control there's a way to disable the TV's volume control effect on the level fed out to an external amplifier. Find it and disable it it or select FIXED for its level, or, while listening through the Aiwa, raise the TV's volume through its own remote and see if that affects what the Aiwa gets for volume.

Or, enable the TV's speakers but find the same interna lAudio setting and make it Fixed, but turn the TV volume down if you don't want to hear its speakers. That way, you could actually listen to the TV on its own speakers if you want, say, for casual watching of the Weather Channel or news, for example.

I have philips fwc399 the problem is that when i plug it will automatically power on but all bottons doesnt works

That status shows that the unit is forced to on trough power supply switching, There must be a standby power first and must be triggered by microprocessor of the system to turn on, there is a problem in the power standby and on switch, usually they are using transistor to switch secondary voltages, or the microprocessor (chip) of the system is in trouble.

Frustrated sound won't lower

There are several complaints in FIXYA and they are all about this same fault condition....the volume is too high when turned on...

Because of the high number of complaints about this same fault I would suggest that its a manufacturer fault.

So the manufacturer should be contacted about it to ask for your money back..

Cheers From YUBEUT..

Make sure none of the tape monitor switches are on as this is a typical symptom when one or more of the tape monitor switches are active.
