I have Windows XP Professional and get errors when installing my new ION VCR 2 PC. I tried getting a new driver from the ION site, but that did not help. Does this mean this device does not work with XP? The installation instructions seem to say it can work with XP?

I called ION tech support 401-658-3743 and my problem was that I was connecting through a USB hub and they said I needed to connect directly to my computer and when I did..the hardware installed just fine.

Hi i purchased a dell 1318 laptop from china suddenly i cont install xp it,s support only win7 while trying to install xp it will display the error message like this

Your laptop may have a SATA hard drive.
The problem is that XPinstallation CD does not have a SATA driver, unless you have a SATA drive on adisk etc. and can install the driver when XP asks for a hard drive driver then,XP cannot detect the hard disk and therefore won't install XP.The FIX.Go into the BIOS anddisable the SATA drive (enable IDE emulation), this will make XP think it is aIDE/PATA hard disk. Then you can install XP normally. When Windows hasbeen installed then install all the device drivers (including the SATA driver),then shut down and boot up and got into the BIOS and enable the SATA drive.

When i start my pc today, i had stop 0x0000007b (0xf9e48528 0xc0000034 0x00000000 0x00000000) i try with chkdsk /r end fixboot but no result.

When you start your computer, you may receive one of the following error messages:
  • STOP: 0x0000007B (parameter1, parameter2, parameter3, parameter4)
    INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE
  • Setup has encountered a fatal error that prevents it from continuing.

Contact your product support representative for assistance. The following status will assist them in diagnosing the problem.

    (0x4, 0x1, 0, 0)

Setup cannot continue. Power down or reboot your computer now.
You may also receive a "Stop 0x0000007B" error message during Windows XP Setup when the Setup program restarts during the installation process. When you receive a Stop error while the Setup program is running, you receive the second error message. To troubleshoot this issue, read the following four sections to determine if any one of the issues applies to you. If none of the issues apply to you, use the following general troubleshooting steps at the end of the article. uparrow.gifBack to the top Boot-Sector Viruses You may receive a "Stop 0x0000007B" error message if your computer is infected with a boot-sector virus. If the problem is intermittent and you can start Windows, check your computer for viruses. If you find a virus, also check any floppy disks for viruses before you use them again.

For a list of antivirus software manufacturers, click the following article number to see the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: 49500 List of Antivirus Software Vendors Note You may have to use more than one brand of virus-detection software to detect and remove various viruses.

Important If your computer has been infected, it may be open to additional forms of attack. We recommend that you rebuild infected Internet-facing servers by following the guidelines that are published on the CERT Web site. Internet-facing servers are servers that function without a firewall or other protection. It is also a good idea to rebuild any other computers that are at risk because of their proximity to infected computers before you put them back in service.

If a virus has infected your Windows XP-based computer and a virus-detection program cannot remove the virus and repair the system, you must repartition and format your hard disk and reinstall Windows XP. For additional information about partitioning and formatting a hard disk with Windows XP, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: 313348 How to partition and format a hard disk in Windows XP For more information about how to help protect the boot sector from viruses in Windows XP, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: 122221 How to protect boot sector from viruses in Windows uparrow.gifBack to the top Device Driver IssuesYou may receive a "Stop 0x0000007B" error message in the following scenarios:
  • A device driver that the computer boot controller needs is not configured to start during the startup process.
  • A device driver that the computer boot controller needs is corrupted.
  • Information in the Windows XP registry (information related to how the device drivers load during startup) is corrupted.
Windows XP requires a miniport driver to communicate with the hard disk controller that is used to start your computer. If Windows XP does not supply a device driver for your controller or if Windows XP is using a corrupted or incompatible driver, you must replace the driver with a valid copy that is compatible with your controller and Windows XP.

During the first phase of the Windows XP installation, Setup displays the following message at the bottom of the screen: Press F6 if you have to install a third-party SCSI or RAID driver. Press F6 and then follow the instructions to install a mass-storage device driver from your Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM). For additional information about using F6 to load an OEM device driver to support, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: General Troubleshooting If none of the issues that have been described in this article apply to you, use the following general troubleshooting steps:
  1. If you receive one of these error messages while you are installing Windows XP, update the computer BIOS or obtain Windows XP drivers for your hard disk controller (from the manufacturer of your computer, system board, or hard disk controller), or do both. For information about how to update your computer's BIOS or obtain Windows XP drivers, contact your computer manufacturer. For additional information about the availability of drivers, see the Device Driver Issues section in this article.

Note: If Windows NT 4.0 or Windows 2000 was installed previously on a mirrored boot partition, see the Other Issues section in this article.
  2. Use the Last Known Good Configuration feature. This may resolve the problem if you recently installed an incompatible device driver for your boot controller. For additional information about using the Last Known Good Configuration feature, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: 307852 How To start your computer by using the Last Known Good Configuration feature in Windows XP
  3. Use the Repair option with Windows XP Setup. For additional information about repairing Windows XP by using the Setup program, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: 315341 How to perform an in-place upgrade (reinstallation) of Windows XP
  4. Restore a registry backup. For additional information about restoring a registry backup, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: 307545 How to recover from a corrupted registry that prevents Windows XP from starting

STOP C0000221 erro de hardware desconhecido systemroot system32 ntdll.dll

You may receive one of the following stop error messages while working on your Windows XP computer.
STOP: C0000221 unknown hard error
Path\File_nameSTOP: 0xC0000221 unknown hard error
C:\Winnt\System32\Ntdll.dll (or another specific file or driver)
STOP: 0xC0000221 STATUS_IMAGE_CHECKSUM_MISMATCH
Path\File_name
Note: The error message may be discussed in many different formats-blue screen or message box. It depends on when the corrupt file was detected.
Similarly, you may receive the following STOP messages when a critical system file fails to load on your Windows NT and Windows 2000 computer.
STOP: C0000221 unknown hard error
<path>\<file_name>STOP: 0xC0000221 unknown hard error
c:\winnt\system32\ntdll.dll
Note: Some other drive may also be given in the message.
On Windows 2000 the following error message may display:
STOP: 0xC0000221 STATUS_IMAGE_CHECKSUM_MISMATCH
<path>\<file_name>
You usually face this problem when an incorrect driver for one or more hardware is installed on your system. For instance, the error messages described above are displayed when you install a millions of instructions per second (MIPS) driver on a x86 system.
Cause of the Error
This error occurs if the file given in the error message is damaged.
Your Windows XP operating system checks the following files for integrity during system startup:
  • All driver files, excluding the files that loaded using the system loader to start your system .
  • All DLL (Dynamic Link Libraries) on the system. These include, Graphics Driver Interface (GDI), User, Ntdll, Crtdll, Shell, Kernel and several other DLL files on the system.
  • On Windows NT and 2000 computers, all DLLs loaded in the Window server address space are also checked.
The problem may also occur if an Iomega Zip drive is connected to the same cable as your hard disk drive.
Resolution Method
You can resolve this issue by removing the corrupt driver from your computer and then reinstalling a fresh and healthy copy of the driver. You may need to use the Device Manager utility to remove the driver. It is recommended that you clean your registry with the help of a reliable tool, such as RegGenie to ensure that all entries related to the uninstalled driver are removed from the system. After you have completely removed the corrupt driver, restart your system and install a fresh copy of the driver on the system.
If this step does not resolve the problem, you may have to reinstall Windows XP.
It is recommended that you regularly clean your registry with the help of a registry cleaner tool and perform antivirus and antispyware scan using tools, such as Antivirus Plus and StopZilla to prevent such errors from occurring on your system.

GOOD LUCK :-)

I WANNA INSTALL XP2 BUT MY SYSTEM SHOWS ERROR: C000022UNKNOWN HARD ERRORSYSTEMROOTSYSTEM32NTDLL.DLL

  1. This problem may occur if the file that is described in the error message is corrupted. The following files are checked for integrity when Microsoft Windows XP starts:
  2. All driver files (except those that are loaded by the system loader to start. the computer)
  3. All dynamic-link libraries (DLLs), including User, Graphics Device Interface (GDI), Shell, Kernel, Ntdll, Crtdll, and others.
  4. This problem may occur if you install an inappropriate driver for your hardware. For example, you receive one of the error messages that are described in the "Summary" section if you install a MIPS driver on an X86-based computer.

This problem may occur if an Iomega Zip drive is on the same integrated device electronics (IDE) cable as the hard disk drive.
  5. To resolve this problem, obtain a new copy of the corrupted file or reinstall Windows XP. If you continue to receive any one of the error messages that are described in the "Summary" section after you reinstall Windows XP, a hardware problem or a network problem may exist.
  6. This error message may be displayed in many different formats, including an error message that is displayed on a blue screen or an error message that is displayed in a dialog box. The type of format that the error message is displayed in depends on how much of the operating system was loaded when the corrupted file was detected.

Error message when installing Logitech webcam

Hi,

If you click on this link,
http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/support_downloads/downloads/
it'll take you to the Logitech website, and you should click on 'Webcams' in the Product list, and select your webcam version from the Product Name list, then press the arrow and it'll let you download the correct driver for your webcam.
Be sure to get a driver that is XP compatible..

Even if the installation doesn't have a Windows Security Certificate, the Logitech driver software will have the operating system support built in.

If you have problems installing the driver, go to Control Panel, System, Device Manager, and look under Imaging Devices or wherever you see a tellow exclamation mark and double click on the device listing and hit the driver tab, and install the driver from there, choosing the 'Let me choose the driver' type option, and then navigate to the folder you unzipped the driver software to, install, wait and reboot.
Done!

Hope this helps
