Question about Yahoo Messenger

General Yahoo Voice Question???

I have the Yahoo phone working now with a mic and headset. I'm wondering if it's possible to purchase and hook up a more traditional style of phone that I can plug into the 3.5mm audio card so I can have a more normal phone? If so which phone would you recomend. I've found some that say SKYPE dedicated phone. Will this one work with Yahoo?
Thank You,
Jesse Young

Thanks. I downloaded SKYPE and subscribed to thier $3.00/month unlimited phone plan. Then I purchased a usb audio converter for $25.00. Then I hook up my regular phones to it and good to go. No need to buy any type of new skype style phone. Regular phones work fine with a simple converter box.

    Thank You for your help.

Well my $24.95 voip converter came in and it is amazing. I plugged it into my usb port. I plugged the magicjack into the line in port and plugged a two cord adaptor into the phone in port. Then I plugged all my cordless and wired phones into the two port adapror. After installing Skype and Skypemate I now have both Magicjack and Skype phone service. It has a converter has a automatic switcher on it to pick up whichever line a call comes in on and will ring that line. Calling out you just press the * button first to switch between the magicjack or the Skype service. The interesting thing is that this converter works for and not only supports Skype but also works with MSN Messenger, Net2phone, Voipblaster, Yahoo, etc.
So , the answer is yes! There is a way to use your existing conventional phones with the internet voice services and make calls like you always have for free or near free. I must say the sound on Skype is excellent so far. Does not get choppy and breakup like it sometimes does with the magicjack. What great news! Don't buy all those expensive voip phones, just buy a simple converter that plugs into your usb port and use all your existing telephone equipment. Here is the link to the converter. Good Luck!

so the internal mic doesnt work, and now also the headset doesnt work either?

You can try a full reset on the phone I can email you the instructions on how to reset if you provide me with your email.

If that doesnt work then its a hardware side fault and needs to be serviced / repaired.

Recording with a Digtal Voice Recorder

Your telephone does not contain a special connector for this type of device. Besides, I wonder if your voice-recorder has a connector for this, like a mic-in. If there is, you can consider to buy a special electronic device, which taps the audio from the telephone-line and hook it up to your digital voice recorder.

Also, you can do it without this electronic device, but requires electronic knowlegde and tools.

If the phone and the voice-recorder both miss a connector to connect to each other, you can always go for the handsfree-mode of this phone and activate the voicerecorder when there's an incomming call..

When i plug in my mic i cannot hear my friends talk but it says my mic is in and i am talking.

You used the term "plug in my mic". I assume you mean the microsoft mic and head set. one of the best ways to check the headset and mic. is to go onto microsoft live and attempt to leave someonw a voice message. during the message you will get a message that says your mic is not working. also after you finish the voice message attempt to play if back if you do not hear anything then the problem is with your microsoft head set and attached mic. if new take if back to exchange for another one. there could possibly be something wrong with the port connection on you microsoft controller.

No sound,no working mic...not even showing on my voice tab in control panel

Hi there,
Just a couple of questions that might help you solve your problem..
- Have you already installed the sound driver of your motherboard/sound card?
- Have you properly inserted the right color/jack of your headset to the computer?
- Have you check the volume control of the headset whether it is in mute or full volume?

If you have tried the above questions then you might have a defective headset.

To test if it is working, try playing some music & the sound recorder for you mic.

My computer is not detecting microphone when making internet phone calls.

Troubleshooting - Can't get voice chat to work.
Here are a few things you should know and check for to get the voice chat to work. · Firewalls - the voice chat feature may not work well behind company firewalls. Even though you can get other features of Yahoo! Messenger to work, the voice chat feature uses separate technology and may not work as well.
· Check connection - When you enter into a voice chat with friends, each participant should take turns trying to press and hold down the Press to Talk button. Everyone else should see their name turn red when they do that. If you see their names turn red, but don't hear anything, it may be a microphone / speaker problem, or it may be that we have more bugs that we need to fix. If you don't see their name turn red, you are probably having connection problems and that's why it's not working.
· Get the latest version - Please make sure that everyone who is using the voice chat feature has the latest version.
· Check mic and speakers - Check that your microphone works and that your speakers are turned on. Here's how:
* make sure the mic is plugged in correctly.
* adjust the mic properties.
- go to the control panel (start button -- settings -- control panel)
- click on the multimedia icon
- you should see a tab for audio
- make sure that the recording volume is set high.
* you can test your mic. by doing the following.
- Click the Windows Start button, then go to Programs, then Accessories, then Multimedia, then click on Sound Recorder
- A new window called Sound Recorder will pop up. Click on the record button (a red circle), then say a few words, then click the stop button (black square).
- Click the play button (black triangle).
If you can hear yourself fine, then your microphone is okay. If you can't hear your voice using Sound Recorder, the voice chat should not work either.

Premium usb headset

Hi, A couple of things you can check first pls: 1. the logitech headset has its own mute control somewhere along the line/volume control. pls check/try it on both settings; 2. since it is USB connected, it is now a secondary audio device in your hardware aside from the onboard audio device in your computer. That gives you now 2 speaker output and 2 mic inputs. It is possible that voice recognition uses the logitech therefore it works but voice chat uses the onboard audio and since no mic is connected at the rear of your computer (I am presuming), you may have to set the voice chat to use the logitech mike also. I hope this gives you some idea and works for you. Pls post agin how things are or if you still need further assistance. Good luck and kind regards.
