Re: Electrolux washing machine EW1055F stopped working
It appears your controller/timer board has failed in this instance.
For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing. I recommend both sites because ...
FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.
PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information. RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.
If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell. In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.
Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.
If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.

Something not working?
Problems which you can resolve yourself, before calling the After Sales Service.
During machine operation it is possible that the end light
4 flashes= the door has not been closed
2 flashes= the machine does not empty
1 flash= the machine does not fill.
Once the problem has been eliminated, press the START/PAUSE button. In the case that the blown fuses due to consumption exceeding 10 amps and also have problems with the front cover microswiche which is not activating when you close the door. You should check the condition of the engine and change the microswiche of the door. Remove any objects from the pump impeller by rotating it.
the error code E50 indicates that the motor has become overheated, you should give it an hour to cool then try running the washing machine again. I'm also including a link to pdf below with the common error codes for your brand of washer in case you have any other problems
Obviously the first thing to check is that the socket is supplying
power by plugging another appliance in such as a lamp. It is less
likely to be the socket but you'd be daft not to check it out before
calling an engineer as it does occasionally turn out to be a faulty
wall socket. This is only necessary though if there are no led
indicator lights lit up on your washer as any light that's on shows
that the machine is getting a live and neutral supply from the socket.
The second thing to check is the fuse in the plug. Either put the fuse into something
else and check the appliance still works or try another fuse that you
know to be OK in the washer. Make sure you use a 13 amp fuse and never
by-pass a fuse! If both of those are OK, then the most common cause for
a washing machine that wont start is the door interlock, particularly
if the mains lights on the washing machine has come on, but nothing
works. However, the fault could also be in wiring to the door interlock
or even the door catch not activating it properly, or the on off switch
or the main control module. With some Indesit and Hotpoint washing
machines even an open circuit heater or motor can cause the entire
washing machine to stop working except the led lights.
need to know what you are doing to trace this type of fault so if it
isn't the wall socket or the plug you'd be better getting an engineer
to trace it. Do not work on a live washing machine. Engineers should
use a continuity test meter to trace faults with the washing machine
unplugged and never test with a live washing machine.
