Question about Eljer Arlington Non-Jetted Acrylic Bath Tub - 015-0241

1 Answer

Clogged drain I pulled up on our eljia drain metal plug to see if i could retrieve a tiny small sword my son dropped in the shower. I pulled so hard, the arm came off of what it was attached to down further in the drain. Now, the tub won't drain at all. We tried the backing soda and viniger cleaning trick a few times. Even though each time it seemed to move a little bit down, it continues to stay clogged. I've tried plunging and even plunging while covering the over flow holes. Is it possible it is not clogged and something on the metal arm that i pullede it off of left the drain closed? Trish

There is plastic plug that is used to stop the drain, when you pull the handle.
seems like the chain is broken off the the drain plug. the drain plug is one way plug.
the only suggestion I have is to open the backwall or the ceiling to get to the drain pipe. then you have to open the drain in order to fix this problem.
there is no easy fix, since you can't get to the plug that is in the drain, and the more you pull, the tighter it gets.
I don't suggest try to push the plug down, it may clogged the drain somewhere else.

Does body wash clogg up shower drains?

Body wash is water soluble, so if you run some hot water it should dissolve and go down the drain. The more likely cause of clogged shower drains is hair caught either in the drain or the trap downstream from the drain. Try some liquid plumber and a small diameter drain snake. If that doesn't clear it, call the plumber

Shower in basement is backed up. Wondering if it's because a floor drain is covered up.

sounds more like the drain line is clogged between the shower and the main stack, and shares venting and drain with your kitchen sink. Have a plumber run a drain snake down from your kitchen drain (after the 'P' trap ) to clear the line. A covered over floor drain should have no effect on the back-up.

Clogged shower drain

Shower drains are all designed to be opened and cleaned, usually hair builds up, if there is a visible screw remove it and lift the drain cover, if you can get fingers under the cover try lifting it off to clean it. If its stiff and its made of plastic do not use metal tools to lift it. Instead pass a trouser belt under both sides and use this to pull it up, then clean it.

How do i remove bathroom sink drain plug?

Usually, that only works with tub drains. Look under the sink, at the drain pipe, about 3 inches below the bottom of sink. On the back side (away from the door) you should see a knurled nut with a metal rod coming from it. unscrew the nut, then pull the metal ball/rod combo out. This will release the drain plug. To reassemble, fiddle with it until you get the rod through the hole in drain stem, then push ball into it's socket, and replace knurled nut. Tighten enough that it doesn't leak, but not much tighter than that, or you'll lock up the drain plug and have to loosen it a bit.

After turning water on to 10 year old grohe shower faucet pressure rapidly drops to nearly nothing

If you spin the shower head off there should be a metal screen inside. If it is clear, Soak the shower head in CLR for about 4 hours. After 10 years even the best water supply will leave behind a build up that can plug the tiny holes.

My one year old son dropped a refrigerator magnet in our clothes and now the magnet is under the agitator. How can I remove this to retrieve the magnet and not stop up the drain?

Pull up on the fabric softener dispenser in the top of the agitator.
Set it aside.
Remove the agitator mounting screw from inside the agitator.
Pull up on the agitator base to remove the agitator.
Remove the magnet.
Reverse the above order to re-install the agitator.

Drain clogged

What i believe you have done is puled the linkage and the drain remains clogged.

Here is the fix:

remove the two screws from the overfow chrome cover that has the drain handle

Slowly pull the wire linkage out and hopefully the plumb bob plug comes out if just the linkage wire comes out out wil have to use a coat hanger and flashlight to fish it out you now shoud get the drain to drain

once you remove the plug I am still not sure you can retrieve the sword. There is a tool that is T handled that you insert down into the drain hold that you turn counter clockwise and the chrome drain piece comes out

I highly recommend that you have someone handy ( has done plumbing) to do thispart because
it has to proberly reinstalled with plumbers putty to seal properly

Before you do the t handeld part try using a hemostat to grip the sword
