Re: my camera doesn't record!!!

It may be a corrupt driver or a software glitch, remove the camera from usb port, uninstall driver and software and reinstall. Try camera in a different usb port and record again to see if the same thing applies. You can also try recording in windows movie maker 2 to see if the same problem occurs, atleast then you will know if its a camera hardware fault or not after trying 2 different recording programmes.

Hi..can you help me cause when i open my magic camera it does not work but before this it work...and when i want to record my own video to youtube it can't?can you solve this problem?i really want to...

If you can give me more details, like error messages or so, it would help much solving the issue.
However, try these steps:

1. Start>right click Computer>Manage>Device Manager
2. See if there are any drivers marked in yellow (triangle and exclamation mark), and if yes, right click on it and Uninstall. Then go to top menu and mouse over icons until you find "Check/Scan for hardware changes", click on it and wait-the driver will be automatically installed.
3. Restart your computer and try if the camera works.

In case the steps do not solve your issue, please contact me again and provide following:
1. Operating System (Start>right click Computer>Properties)
2. Webcam model and manufacturer
3. Error code or message you get when try to use your camera.

When using Skype ( on Windows (XP, SP3), my camera (Logitech E2500) turns off after a few minutes. The other person sees my image "frozen" at the time the camera shut off. If I try to turn the...

Skype is very picky about having the latest drivers and you also need to see if your support software ( not downloaded with the Logitech software ) is up to date and functioning OK

Visit the Logitech website and browse the photo gallery for your model and click on the photo to navigate to the support page.
Note - Older models on page 2 - look for the link at the bottom right of page 1 and click on it "Still can't find your product?",en?prodcrid=405

In addition to the Logitech installer you will need to check the support software - Microsoft DirectX . This comes pre-loaded on most Windows computers but has to be updated - I am currently on version 11
To start the DirectX Diagnostic Tool, click 'Start', click 'Run', type dxdiag in the Open box, and then click OK
Run through the tabs checking the 'notes' windows for information
The version will be shown on the 'Systems' tab

Procedure to re-install Logitech software
Close all programs while uninstalling - downloading and uploading software
Disconnect your webcam
Uninstall the current webcam software on your computer
Restart computer
Download the Installation package from Logitech
Run the installer and choose your options during the installation - You may not want Logitech Chat but the Desktop icon for the webcam toolbar is a must.
Connect your webcam when prompted.

Test your webcam here to make sure it broadcasts ok - Hit 'Allow' in the top window and check your cam in the left hand panel.
Not working ? - troubleshoot your drivers and software - get your cam working before moving on

Working OK ?

Set your webcam mic as default ( if it has a built in mic

Plug in the webcam

Right click on speaker icon in System Tray or from Control Panel
Select "Playback Devices"
The speaker icon ( checked as working) and volume level graph should be visible
Right click on the volume graph and click "Test"
Left hand speakers followed by right hand should be heard

Click "Recording" tab.
Right click on the volume graph and select 'Show disabled devices' and 'Show disconnected devices'
To set required (webcam) mic as default - click on mic font to highlight and click "Properties"
In lower dropbox display "Use this device enable" click 'OK'
Click "Levels" tab and ramp up sliders ( adjust to suit later)
Return to "Recording". Test mic by speaking and make sure volume graph displays

Restart computer

Connect webcam
Its good practice to disconnect and re-connect your webcam before you start (To reboot the webcam software) - if you have been using it elsewhere the SKYPE software may have difficulty in locating it, even if you exited the previous program correctly.
The reason being, the webcam software can remain hooked-up to a program and needs to be rebooted.
Mine, I just unplug it from the USB and plug it back in to reboot the software.
If yours is integral with the computer you will have to re-start the computer, use a keyboard shortcut or disable / enable the webcam from the Device Manager.

Start Skype.
On the 'Tools' menu, click 'Options'.
In the navigation pane of the Skype 'Options' window, click 'Audio Settings'
Run down the list setting your defaults
Select your webcam as the default microphone.
Make a free test call
Click 'Save'
In the navigation pane of the Skype Options window, click Video Settings.
This will launch your webcam
Adjust quality of picture in 'Settings'
Check the correct webcam is shown as default
Click Save
Test your webcam by making a Skype test call.
For more information about how to configure Skype Messenger, please visit the following Skype Web site: (

Just prior to using Skype reboot the webcam software by unplugging it for a few seconds and do not run your logitech software for a preview, but allow Skype total control

Clicking "QuickCapture" does nothing.

Step 1: The "Tools" menu of Windows Live Messenger

1. Recover Windows Live Messenger in our software if you do not have it yet.
2. Start the installation of the software.
3. Once this is done, go to the Tools menu software.

In this menu, two links are important in order to properly configure your camera:"Setting audio and video" and "Parameters of the webcam."This is the first that we will discuss first and foremost, the second used primarily to adjust the parameters of the image in the secondary stage but we are dealing with. Launch therefore setup wizard and click on "Next".

Step 2: The setting of loudspeakers

1. Select your hardware in the menu.
2. Check the box if you use a helmet.
3. Test finally your sound output in order to adjust the volume.

It is possible that you find in the menu several choices. That means you have several elements in your computer capable of transmitting sound, a dedicated card and your motherboard, for example. In this case, make sure to select well the correct input, what you quickly verify the test by loudspeakers.

Step 3: At the turn of the microphone

1. Select your sound source.
2. Start talking to your microphone.
3. Observe the cursor, if it moves, your microphone is working.

Two remarks on the stage configuration. On the one hand, if your camera has no microphone, you must go through a device that you must annex plug into the pink on your sound card. On the other hand, if your mouse does not work, you may have selected the wrong input device sound. Take particular care in this setting and not leave this page only when the cursor s'agitera,
indicating that your voice is recognized by the software.

Step 4: Turning finally to the image

1. Specify this time the source of the video.
2. Observe the window of return: if your setup is satisfactory, your image should appear.
3. Adjust the frame rendering through the "Option" button.

Logitech quick cam communicate stx on Vista - microphone not working

Why isn't the microphone on my camera working?
trnsp.gif Answer The microphone may not work because of a hardware or configuration problem. To determine if it's a hardware problem, test the microphone in Sound Recorder.

  1. Click "Start," > "Programs" ("All Programs" for Windows XP) > "Accessories" > "Entertainment" > "Sound Recorder."
  2. Click the Record button and speak into the microphone of the camera. You should see the green line move, indicating the application is picking up sound.
  3. Click the Stop button.
  4. Click the Play button. If there is no sound at playback, check to make sure the correct device is selected.
    1. Click "Edit," then "Audio Properties."
    2. Make sure Logitech is listed as the Preferred device for "Sound recording."
The microphone may also be defective. To test this, try the camera on another USB enabled system.
If you can record sound in Sound Recorder, but not in the QuickCam application, try setting the Logitech Microphone as the Preferred device in Audio Properties.
