Question about Creative Labs Dxr2 Decoder Graphic Card

1 Answer

DXR2 DECODER DRIVERS FOR XP DOSEN'T ADD A NEW DISPLAY ADAPTER

HAVE ORIGINAL CD FOR W9X AND TRIED COMPATIBILITY MODE IN XP BUT THAT DIDN'T WORK.

FOUND POSTING ON "COMPUTING.NET" SITE THAT
INSTRUCTS TO GO TO DEVICE MANAGER SELECT MULTIMEDIA VIDEO CONTROLLER AND UPDATE THE DRIVER FROM THE WDM DIRECTORY OF THE EXPANDED "DVDEWUP.EXE (THE DXR2 W98 DRIVER FROM CREATIVE'S SITE). THIS INSTALLED THE"CREATIVE PC-DVD ENCORE WDM DEVICE UNDER SOUND AND VIDEO CONTROLLERS.

MY PROBLEM IS THAT ONCE INSTALLED I CAN'T SELECT THE DXR2 AS MY PRIMARY OR SECONDARY VIDEO OUTPUT IN DISPLAY PROPERTIES (IN FACT IT IS NOT EVEN SHOWN AS AN OPTION) AND THUS NO DUAL DISPLAY WITH CRT AND TV (S-VIDEO) OUT.

TO RESTATE: THE CARD IS RECOGNIZED AS A VIDEO CONTROLLER, BUT NOT AS A DISPLAY ADAPTER (WHICH WOULD ALLOW DUAL DISPLAY)

This might be a limitation of an older driver and lack of support to do multiple monitor display.

i once overcame this by using ati catalyst control center on a non ati card system

Open Device Manager, Uninstall the Graphic Card and driver, reboot the machine, allow Windows 7 to apply the generic driver, Open Windows Updates and run. OR, open Device Manager, display adapter, update Graphics adapter. OR, Use the eMachine windows vista 64 bit drivers. Download the Windows Vista 64bit driver and Save , open Properties, change compatibility to Windows 7. Im being told mine isnt compatible with my 64 bit pc

Hello,

This is the specification mentioned on the website:
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS PC:
  • Intel Pentium III 800MHz MMX compatible or higher
  • Microsoft Windows 98SE, ME, 2000 / XP
  • 64 MB RAM (128 MB or more)
  • CD-ROM drive
  • Available USB port
  • 160 free disk space
  • DirectX 8.0

Here are the links for the driver:
1.Windows Vista
2.WINDOWS 98/ME/2000/XP

If the webcam still dosen't work and gives you the compatibility problem then what you can try is you can run the program in compatibility mode and always run in as administrator. Give it a try. And let me know if this works in.

Thanks

When opening my unit the display in the monitor is "signal input out of range".

Hi there,
The problem could be because the resolution set for your operating system is not supported by your monitor.
If that's the case you would have to go to safe mode and uninstall the display driver and reinstall it in normal mode.
To go to safe mode:
From shutdown turn the computer on and then start tapping the F8 key (for most computers F5 for some)
click start when you see My computer (XP) Computer (Vista/Win7) right click and choose Manage Choose device manager Look for display adapter, right click on it and choose Uninstall (Note:Write down the model name of the display adapter before you uninstall so you can easily google a driver download in normal mode)
Once uninstalled restart the computer
If the display comes back go to the internet and then google the model name and add driver download.
Download the driver and install on your computer. (If you have a cd for the VGA driver use it to save you the hassle of searching for it online)
Hope you found this helpful.
Thanks

To work around this issue, open Control Panel, and then follow these steps to configure the DMA/PIO settings for a controller: 1. Click Start, click Run, type devmgmt.msc, and then click OK. 2. Expand IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers. 3. Right-click the controller that you want to configure DMA/PIO settings for, and then click Properties. 4. Click the Advanced Settings tab. 5. Display driver missing

If your OS is XP SP2, you can un install the Graphics card via device manager and on re boot let Windows new found hardware wizard pick it up and it should set up your Card itself, as the CD's drivers are probably not the latest XP SP2 compatible driver.

You could also go to the Graphics card's Manufacturer's Support site and download the latest XP compatible driver, or whatever OS's driver you require.

You can look here also: http://www.fixya.com/support/appian_graphics

Good luck.

Monitor driver

you can set a resolution of 1440*900..
option 1) open device manager,, update the drivers for standard vga card.. locate ur video drivers folder,,(do it manually even if u have it on cd)...

option 2) this one is bit risky.... open add new hardware wizard and add ur correct video adapter, no matter ur standard display adapter is already installed. after you finish, update ur original standard display adapter and this time, it will pick the correct drivers.. now you can remove your dumb display adapter and restar pc .
risk is- be very careful, u dont want to remove your physical adapter by mistake, resulting no video after a restart.

Can't connect to internet with 2wire PC port

yes U R right. this is most probably a "Driver" problem. You could try installing the software in "Administrator Mode".. with "Compatability Mode" set for XP. If this doesn't work.. then ya may have to try to contact the manufacturer and ask for a compatable driver for Vista.
