How to copy

You will need to perform a partial clean. Turn off the printer. Turn it on and watch to boot up on screen closely. When the black line appears under the HP logo, touch the HP logo. Display will go to a black and blue display. Use the arrows on screen to scroll down to administration, select partial clean and press ok, and then press back arrow until continue appears on screen. Press ok and unit will restart. You will lose most of your settings this way but you have no other choice.

It could be virus. Try running a full system scan.

Good choice going to a Mac. Open Scan Icon in Applications and go from there. It's easy. Always refer to the manual with new stuff.

When "Scan Document" is selected, a secondary screen will appear from which you will have to
make choices. After making your decisions, click "Scan" from the listed screen.
When "Scan Picture" is selected, one scanning pass will be performed, another pass will be
made after you view the result of the first pass.
Scanned pictures will go to the HP Photo Gallery and your "My Picture" folder.
Scanned documents will go to your "My Documents" folder.

You may need a shop, there's a new cable assembly for that that Canon shops can get. The flat cable to the display goes bad and needs replacement.

Once you have selected PDF on the screen touch you Ulitly/Counter button, then select User settings, display settings, Scan Basic default.

Please follow the instructions below to use the Scan and Save option in Smart Panel

1. Open Smart Panel and double-click Scan and Save

2. The scanner normally defaults to AUTOMATIC MODE and will scan without any intervention. Should you wish to use PROFESSIONAL MODE or HOME MODE, simply click on PAUSE and the MODE you wish to use.

3. After the scan completes, you will be taken to the VIEW IMAGES screen. Should you wish to change the file name, click on IMAGEXXXX( X representing the number) and enter the file name of your choice. Click NEXT

4. In the SAVE FILE screen, select your FILE PATH and FILE TYPE. After making the adjustments you wish, click on SAVE.

I had the same problem. Click Start, Windows Photo Gallery, from that screen, you can select import from scanner. The 1200 series printer should be a choice to select. You are then able to preview the image or document, then press scan. I found this out through the HP support website.

The machine might be trying to download the latest firmware wait a few minutes it may go if not it is it the user manual under on screen messages.
