Please provide more details like brand and model number .

Take the burners apart and clean with a hard brush. Let dry, put together and see what happens. If not working properly, move the burners around a bit and make sure they are in the exact right position. Push in the knob, as soon as clicking starts turn knob a little (fast) in each direction.

You might want to call a repair man out for this problem so it dosent wear out the igniters...it shouldnt cost alot to get it repaired. they are hard to work on

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, two possibilities:

  • defective igniter control or logic board for some models;
  • damp, dirty, corroded igniter switch.
Pls post back brand and model.

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa. Happy New Year.

    take a look at the igniter located in the center of two burners. clean the gap with a stiff brush between the eletrode and the upper plate. the distance is preset at the factory. you may have enough buildup to close the gap enough to trigger the igniter.

I would try cleaning the burners. You can purchase cleaning brushes made specifically for this purpose and they work like a charm.
