I have the same unit, 44422. The base has four clips, two on the top and two on the bottom. The front portion is clip-on. Try to push on the base's bottom and pull off the front portion, like opening a book. After the battery replacement you will have to reset the unit trough the little reset hole. Otherwise, the ''LOW BATTERY" will not go away. Yes, you will have to reprogram the unit.

The dry wont run on high heat cycle but will run on the low heat cycle

Could be the Hi Limit Thermostat causing problems. There are over 350 Roper Dryers. Not much can be diagnosed without knowing the actual model number of your dryer. Please drop a comment with full model number. You can view the parts by selecting the correct model from this site.

I have model REX3514PQ0 that I purchased from Lowe's in 2005. It is a Heavy Duty, Extra Large Capacity, 3 Cycle dryer. The dryer will turn on and will blow but only cold air. A friend suggested I check...

There are three switches :: high heat thermostat, low heat thermostat, and thermal limit switch.

Could the the thermal limit switch is opened because the dryer overheated -- these cannot be reset -- need replacing.

Could also be a faulty heating element. To test these components you'll need an ohmmeter (multi-meter) and will need to remove the back of the dryer.

More info, let me know.

The high limit thermal switch on heater burns out.

There are two thermostats, a 'limit' or 'operating' thermostat which turns the heating element on and off, and a 'high limit' or 'safety' thermostat which oversees the 'operating' thermostat by opening and removing power to the heating element when the upper limit temperature is reached. Basically, the only difference between these two are the temperature ratings. The 'high limit' is higher than the 'operating' thermostat. The thermal fuse is the last resort protection.

First and foremost, you must know that every inch of your exhaust vent pipe is clean.

Usually, a bimetallic limit switch will degenerate in the direction of too low of a temperature range because as the parts wear out inside, the mechanical tolerance widens (the tiny rod that pushes the contacts together gets shorter).

The high limit thermostat is by the thermal fuse. The operating thermostat is in the blower housing.

Check the fan impeller for broken vanes and lint. The impeller is directly coupled to the motor and should not turn without the motor. The fan housing and ducting should be free of excess lint.

Good luck.

I have a crown dryer model fdeb34rgs1 I have replaced the thermostat but it gets so hot you can't touch it. What is wrong?

Possibly you've been given a thermostat with a heat range too high for your unit! Depending on which thermostat (low or high) you may need to double-check the part number and application.

Dryer runs, but won't heat

HI, Remove the lower front panel and you can see the heating element and thermostats
Check to see if there is 240V to the element posts. If there is voltage, change the element. If there is no voltage, check the thermostats for continuity. If any of the thermostats are open, it will need changed.
I hope this helps you.
Please let me know if I can assist you further.

Whirlpoool dryer not heating replaced the thermostat

Dont know the model number you have, but most of your items are located in the back of the unit. You need to make sure you replaced the thermostat, and not just the thermal fuse. The thermal fuse sits on top of the element shield, the thermostat is lower, down where the wires go into the element. You may have changed the thermal fuse, but the thermostat may be out. You will need to check (with an ohm meter) all the componants to find the trouble. If that thermal cut-off has went bad again, change the thermostat with it. Be sure you have very good ventilation all the way through, bad vents will cause problems like this all the time. Let me know if you need parts info. Let me know a model number as well.
