Setup your Xbox to a Wireless Network

Xbox game consoles can be connected to a router for wireless access to the Internet and Xbox Live. Follow these instructions to set up the Xbox or Xbox 360 connections to a wireless home network.

Connect the appropriate wireless network adapter to the console. On the Xbox, a Wi-Fi adapter that connects to the Ethernet sometimes also called a wireless network bridge must be used. Alternatively, the Xbox 360 is also designed to work with certain Wi-Fi game adapters that connect to a USB port.

Turn on the console and navigate to the wireless settings screen. (Infrastructure is the mode used by wireless routers.)

Set the Security Type to match that of the wireless router. If your router uses WPA encryption and the type of adapter connected to the Xbox does not support WPA, you will need to change your router settings to use WEP encryption instead. No usb ports work but the xbox works fine so i cant get on live with a wireless adapter is there a solution?

If no USB ports work it's probobly the main USB port in the xbox. You could get it repaired, i don't think the cost would be overly high

Cant grt xbox360 wireless adapter conected to wireless router on pc down stairs

I assume the wireless router is configured correctly and the PC can connect to the wireless router and the Internet.
The problem could be that the signal is too weak upstairs for the XBox especially if you have a concrete floor between the XBox and the wireless router. Try moving the wireless router around to increase signal strength to the CBox.
The other problem could be the XBox is not configured correctly.
Follow these instructions to configure the XBox.
 1. In the Xbox Dashboard, go to My Xbox and open System Settings.
 2. Select Network Settings, Configure Network.
 3. On the Basic Settings tab, select your wireless settings.
 4. Select the name (SSID) of your wireless network. If your router isn't broadcasting your network's name, select Specify Unlisted Network and enter the name.
 5. If your network has wireless security, enter your WEP or WPA key.
 6. Try to connect to Xbox LIVE again.

Msg on xbox says ''not connected''

sure, the usb port must be the back port, when you plug it in the light on the wireless adapter should be red. Once you turn the xbox on, the wireless should turn green. Go to test xbox live->test xbox live->edit settings-> the wireless settings should be at the bottom (the 3rd one down) click on it, (here if you have a password for your network insert the password. -> (press b to back out once) and test xbox live again. It should work if it doesn't please let me know, i'm doing the settings off the top of my head.
Hope it works.

Restored factory settings on pc & cant re -instal belkin adaptor

The Belkin site has very specific instructions for installing this adapter in a pc with Vista. These instructions are at: http://www.belkin.com/support/article/?lid=en&pid=F5D9050&aid=6112&scid=0
I would first unistall any Belkin Software that has already been installed, shut down the system completely and then restart. After you have fully restarted the system then follow the Belkin Site instructions EXACTLY. Any variation is apt to mean an unsuccessful install. Good Luck and have patience.
