Updated my ipod software and now it wont play on my home theatre system

This is always tricky with 1st generation iPod touches. After a while they can't handle the new software anymore and some functions won't work anymore. Maybe try to downgrade the software. Otherwise you should probably get a new iPod.

Forgotten screen lock of the ipod and the computer used to install is not available

if you are unable to connect your iPod to the primary computer, or that option does not work, you must restore it to factory settings. Download and install iTunes on the computer you wish to use, and then connect the iPod to your computer. Once the iPod appears in the Source panel within iTunes, select it, and then click the "Restore" button in the Summary tab in iTunes.

Sound only comes out of one earphone on ipod touch. earphones work well with other appliances and no problem with ipod.

I guess the connector on the iPod touch could be faulty. Some cheaper headphones might have a slightly wrong plug so it does not connect right, but I don't think this is the case in your setup. Try another headphone on your iPod and see if you still have one speaker to know for sure.
