How do I remove the guide plus from coming on at power up?

I found the solution!

With the remote, press the Guide button. This should bring up the Guide Plus+ screen. Press the right arrow to move the cursor all the way to set up and it will ask, "What would you like to do?" Arrow down to "Review Options" and press OK.
The first question is, "Guide Plus+ System Auto Display? On / Off"
Arrow down to Off and press OK.

I had a GE model with Guide Plus. Also, a universal remote which had no Guide button. What worked for me was using the buttons on the TV. Press Vol up button to 'scroll' right. When 'Setup' is highlighted, use 'Menu' button to select. Press Channel down to highlight "Setup' (again) and press 'menu' to select. Follow that pattern through each selection, setting zip code to 00000. When I finished, I turned the TV off then back on, and the GuidePlus has not appeared since.
