When you press on the despensor it doesn not make any sound..Our power was out for several days after Ike, but I can't remember if it worked before or not.water despensor works fine, just can't get the ice one to work Help.
Re: ice despenser in side by side door, kenmore does not...
Pull the grill cover off near the floor and look to see if any of the wires have been cut. I found that the grill cover wore on the wires controlling the door functions. First the crushed ice function went, then the water dispenser went. I had splice the wires back together and am leaving the grill cover off. No problems since.

my kenmore did the same thing, It had a duel water solenoid on it and one that let water into the door water dispenser went bad. also my ice cube started to get smaller, the rubber in the other side of the water solenoid was dry rotting and eventually ruined the ice maker. I replaced the duel solenoid and ice maker and had no more problems. The solenoid is on the back of the fridge, it is what the main water supply connects to.
Make sure that the bucket is pushed in all the way. If the motor is running the screw should be turning. I would also take the bucket out and try to turn the auger by hand to make sure it is turning free.

Is the ice maker turned on? The on/off switch is located on the top right side of the freezer compartment. The manual says that there is a sensor beam that passes from one freezer wall to the other to shut off ice making when the bin is full. Check to make sure nothing Is blocking that signal beam and that the bin is correctly installed.
The water tube is frozen at a point about 2-4 inches from where it comes out of the door. GE has a heater kit available to repair this by calling GE Parts 1-800-626-2002 or online at www.geappliances.com. It is pretty easy to install but you might want to allow a GE factory technician to take care of it since it involves pulling the dispenser PC board off and changing a couple of wires around. will it still dispense the whole cube?theres a brass rod under yourice bucket, remove bucket and check that rod, should be spring loaded and have a little bit of action(youll see it move a flap in front of bucket as its twisted, if so make sure the bucket is being reinstlled correctly, try the dispensor w/o the bucket installed at all, open the door trip the switch with one hand and depress the plunger for both crushed and cubed and check for the motor to turn
