Question about Toshiba Satellite A135-S4527 Notebook
Do you have a problem with the backlight on your laptop? If yes, youare not alone, that’s one of the most common laptop problems. In mostcases the screen inverter is the culprit. Here are some LCD screen backlight failure symptoms that could be related to a bad inverter board:
- Laptop boots as usual but after some time the screenblacks out. You still can see an image on the screen but it’s very dim.You might even use a flashlight to see it better. Sometimes thebacklight comes back for a while but then goes off again. In some casesyou can turn the backlight on if you tap rapidly on the lid closeswitch.
- The screen always stay black and the backlight never comes on but youstill can make out an image on the LCD. It’s dark, but the image isstill there.
-In some cases you might hear a buzzing noise coming from the areawhere the inverter board is located, it’s on the bottom part of thedisplay assembly.
NOTE: if you cannot see an image on the screen, most likelyyou have a different problem and there is nothing wrong with the screeninverter.

Take it to a computer repair shop and have them to order and change out the flourescent fillament behind your screen.I think the cost is alot cheaper going this route rather than. Taking your laptop to best buy and replacing the entire upper lid that probably costs the same as a refurbished laptop.
But if you need it as a temporary fix then just buy another connecting/video output plug and connect it to your tv or another laptop and change the screen resolution.
I hope i was a help tp you!

First test is hold a flashlight at an angle to the screen to see if there is a faint image. If you can see the image with the light then the problem is with the laptop's display, either the backlight went out or the inverter is bad.
Second test is to hook an external monitor by VGA cable. Image should be complete and in full color if the onboard video card is functioning.
