Question about Altec Lansing ADA995 Speaker
I have the Altec Lansing ADA995 speakers with a soundblaster Audigy 2 soundcard. I bought these speakers with my Dell Dimension 8300 in 2003 and have had no problems until a couple of weeks ago when the speakers just started squealing, my poor dogs run away because it is at such a pitch that must really hurt their ears, it's bad enough for mine. I don't know if the speakers have just given up the ghost or is it morelikely to be the sound card. If I unplug all speakers except the centre one from the sub-woofer it doesn't squeal just the loud hum. The squealing still happens if speakers are plugged in without the PC being on. Please give me some ideas. Thanks

hi there are fast checkings for you: Quick Connect Card http://www.alteclansing.com/downloads/641QCC.pdf manual: http://www.alteclansing.com/downloads/641_MAN.pdf is the system working fine exept the sub? my guess: the headphone jack works fine then the speakears are too if soo then the sub amp is bad or some connection is torn try opening the sub and see if everything is hooked right and if soo then the amp is the problem every electronics shop can fix this good luck

I had the same problem. One day I heard two pops and the speaker, including the power light, were dead. Neither Dell nor Altec Lansing support them. They're throw-aways, unless you know a genius electronics technician.
