Problem with Aficio 450 door cover sensors

A friend of mine is having trouble with his copier. On the message panel it is displaying: door covers open. close covers on relay. I have been over the machine checking all the door covers and even activating the sensors to try and get it to register they are closed but to no avail. Any ideas ? cheers in advance. Ray.

Aug 22, 2009 - The flat cable of the
laser also can cause the fault of open door,

cut or badly connected this also it can be indicate door opened without indicating
    as.

    El
cable plano del laser cortado o mal conectado, tambien puede provocar
la falla de puerta abierta sin indicar cual de ellas está abierta.

First check the small door below the duplex unit on right side, if that is closed porperly and all others are also, it could indicate a blown fuse condition.

My Ricoh aficio 450 copier shows a error that says: close door for relay. I have closed all the covers and doors and still get the same error message.

The relay door is the door on the lower right side, below the duplex unit. Check this door -- it may not be closed all the way, or the actuator (the piece of plastic that sticks off the door and is the part that blocks the sensor) may be broken. If neither of these is the case, the sensor may be bad.
