Brenda, Although I only have a little to go on, I'll give it a try.

Olympus camera's do have an internal memory, but just for a limited amount of pictures. When your camera says Memory full, this internal memory is full. You can place a memory card, or free memory, by deleting pictures. But don't delete a picture before you are sure you saved the picture on the computer or some other media.
If you want a memory card, check what type of card goes into your camera. When you place a memory card in the camera it has to be formatted (check the manual) but NEVER format a memory card, when you have any pictures in the internal memory, because you could loose all the pictures in the internal memory too.
Remove the SD memory card from the camera, go into menu and locate "format" follow the prompt to remove all photo's from the internal memory, when completed install the SD card back in the camera to resume normal operation.
The internal memory is not the same as the memory card memory. The camera needs some elbowroom in the internal memory to work at all. It can't use the card memory while the internal memory is full. You need to delete some pictures from the internal memory, then insert the memory card, and it should work (assuming it is formatted correctly and is otherwise compatible).
Are there pics on the internal memory? If so, they must be removed by formatting the internal memory with no card in the camera. Then go into the menu and find "reset"...follow the on-screen instructions. Then, insert your new card and format it in the camera.
"internal memory card is full" There is no more space in the camera's internal memory. Your camera has 16 MB of internal memory. The number of pictures you can store depends on the Picture Size setting you have selected on your camera. The following are approximate number of pictures you can take at each setting: 4.0 MP: 16 pictures 3.1 MP: 18 pictures 2.8 MP: 20 pictures 2.1 MP: 29 pictures 1.1 MP: 48 pictures Internal Memory?the camera always uses internal memory, even if a card is installed. Auto (default)?the camera uses the card if one is in the camera. If not, the camera uses internal memory Image Storage Choose a storage location for pictures and videos. That is most likely correct. I have a Z740 and can only take around 20. My moms will only take 9! Memory cards are cheap. Get a 1 gb card which will hold around 600 or more pictures. You can get one in electronics at wal-mart for around 20-30 dollars. It's a good investment.
