Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

OK the only shot you got is to geta USB to SATA/IDE converter dongle, connect to another PC's USB port. Hopefully, you will be able to read it. Otherwise still plugged in you may be able to use recovery software and get you DATA back. Recover my files is one,

May maxtor 160gb external HDD went underwater during the flood here in the philippines, how can i fix it to work. The OE is Seagate Momentus 5400.3

Before connecting the Harddisk ensure that it is completely dry and clean,
tips : remove the circuit board below the harddisk, use a hair dryer, a painting brush and blower to clean and warm the circuit board, clean all of the metallic connecting terminals with alcohol and remove oxidation if any.
ensure no water has entered the disk(platter).

Since you have not given any specifications about model of your HDD hence I'd consider your HDD connects through USB. Your USB driver is old you shall consider upgradation.

Hi, Normally the steps would be: 1. In your PC, in the System Tray, click on the "Safely Remove Hardware" and then on the "Safely Remove USB Mass Storage Device-Drive(?); 2. Unplug USB cable; 3. Power down external device. Hope this be of some help/idea. Good luck and kind regards.
