    Sir:
You may have solved my problem as well. My broiler is not working on my JGSP31GER, gas oven. Neither, upon checking per your advice, is my self-cleaner...though the Bake function works fine. Am I to understand that your suggestion is to replace the "broiler ignitor" and that it is part number WB13K5058? If so, where is this item to be found on the unit and what precautions should I take when doing the replacement?
    Thank you in advance.

Further to my message, sorry but the self-cleaner seems to be working (as are the stovetop burners) so it is only my broiler that refuses to lite. May I assume that it is the broiler igniter that is faulty or should I be searching elsewhere.

    Thanks again...

I think you missed a letter at the beginning of your model number. (it is maybe a JGSP31GER ?) I would first test the broil, and see if that works. (I would guess that it does) Most likely the oven ignitor (part number WB13K5058 ) needs to be replaced. It is located under the floor of the oven right next to the burner. It is a round electric coil thing about 4 inches long. If you want to confirm that this part is bad before replacing it, (and the broiler works) you can take the ignitor off the broiler and install it in place of the oven ignitor. They are the same part number. Of course now your broiler and self clean will not work unless you replace the broiler's ignitor. This is not too difficult, maybe a 3 on a scale of 1 - 10. Should be a Fix-Ya for your slide in range!

We have a GE gas oven/stove top and the stove top is lighting as well as the broiler but we can not get the oven to heat up. What do you suggest we try?

i just moved and our stove in the new place doesnt bake things right. it seems that the top coil doesnt come on. its very difficult to bake anything. seems to come up to temp for pre heating, but only the bottom coil comes on. If you put it on broil, then the top coil gets hot. that works fine. tired of burning pizzas and biscuits. can anyone help with a cheap fix? dont have alot of cash.

Bottom burner in my oven barely comes on, in turn, not heating my oven to the temperature that is selected. Top burner (or broiler seems to work fine). The gas stove is a GE XL44 and is 6 years old. Please...

GE gas stove the burners on top work, the oven won't get hot

The most common reason a gas oven won't heat is a bad igniter. It is located near the valve and burner under the oven bottom. You can usually see it glow orange just before the fire lights. Most GE ranges take a cylindrical igniter part #WB2X9154 or #WB13K21 rectangular igniter.

Gas oven dosnt work

the pilot light is there for 2 purposes. number 1 to light the burner and number 2 to heat up the thermocouple, thermocouple is a wire that the flame from pilot suppose to surround by fire. if the pilot is to low it will not reach the thermocouple. you can take the gas line that supplies gas to the pilot and clean it with a safety pin or a small needle. you can test the thermocouple by heating it up with a blow torch on low heat, get it red hot and then turned on the oven. if the oven works clean the pilot, if the oven do not work, replace the thermocouple if separate from safety valve. if thermocouple is part of it replace the safety valve.
