Try a new Web search for your brand. Try looking for a Diagnostic trouble code of 6-1 and see if you can pull up parts of a Service manual using that search routine. Try Phillips trouble codes, Phillips Diagnostic Codes, or your model# in the search.
It sounds like it went into a default Diagnostic mode. If you have a Remote with extra functions it may get you into the Diagnostic menu.
Turn the TV on From main supply: Ensure that the main supply is turned on. A blue indicator light on the front of the TV lights up. When the TV is turned on by the main supply, the blue indicator light will blink for 45 seconds. This is the lamp's start-up period. When the light goes off, press the POWER button on the remote control or power switch. Press POWER to turn on the TV.
I'm not sure of a Toshiba TV but my Phillips and a friend of mine's Mitsubishi TV do this very same thing when the system has detected a voltage spike. Usually this is caused by static discharge (let me guess you have carpeting). Unplug the unit and hold the power button for 10 seconds and leave it unplugged for 5 minutes. Then plug her back in and give it a whirl.
go to this link they may have your service manual for your tv they list them by chassis numbers so if you don't see it leave them an e-mail with your model number and they are very good about getting back with you http://servicemanuals.vstore.ca/
this happened to me once i think the problem is that the button is used so infrequently that it sticks try pushing it very hard as many times as needed and id and when it comes back on dont use the button anymore just stick to the remote
For the majority of phillips/magnavox universal remotes: Hold code search button down till red light satys on. Press the tv button and the red light should blink and stay lit. With the tv on, push the power button repeatedly until the tv turns off.(dont push the power button again after the tv turns off or it will go to the next code). Push the mute button to save the setting.
