Question about Kenmore 3.5 cu. ft. Front Load Electric Washer

1 Answer

Computer brain seems unresponsive

The lights are on so it has power- I don't see why there would suddenly be a water supply problem. When we push ANY button it beeps and lights flash then it goes back to most of the lights being on. the machine is only a little over 2 years old(3 months past warrenty) and has never displayed any problems until now. *note* this problem just started the day after our hotwater heater ~broke~ and we had small flooding in the area(barely touching the bottom of the machine) of the washer. the washer is plugged into an outlit with the hotwater heater and there for the breaker to it was shut down while we changed the hot water tank. We have tried plugging it into a differant outlet that has proper power and theres still no change in its behavior. Any suggestions-?- definantly can't afford a repair man.

    Hi- its me reporting back about my own problem.I continued browsing for a solution and found others with similiar problems. Not only with Kenmore, but also Fridgedair and wirlpool and a suggestion that they had all used with success was to hold down the options button and the select button at the same time for atleast 5 seconds...... I did this and I'm pleased to say it worked- it re-set. I posted this with hopes that it helps someone else.

    lights are on but the washer will not start. When I push any of the buttons they just flash and then go back to all lights on. The lock light is NOT on and when I try to reset (by pressing the options and select buttons together for 5+ seconds) nothing happens.

    The washer is barely 3 yrs old.

ML350 G4 will not boot. System was running but became unresponsive. Powered down using power button. Now no response to pushing power button. No Leds lit anywhere. Fans running on power supplies.

Try pulling the hot swap Power supplies, push the power button hole the supplies are out to discharge power, then put them back in again and try the power button again.

E-machine modem wont turn on the fan and little yellow light on bottom are on

This is not a full solution, it is a partial solution, and something I would like you to try;

1) Unplug the computer from power.
2) Press, and hold the Power On button in for a count of at least 5 seconds.
Let go of the Power On button.

Perform this procedure 2 more times.

3) Plug the computer back into power. WAIT 1 minute, turn the computer on.

If the computer doesn't turn on you have a bad Power Supply.

Weak voltage power rail

Computer may have enough power to light LED lights, and perhaps spin fans, but not enough power to turn the Processor on.

A) If ALL of the LED lights were on at once, they would use less than 1 Watt of power.

B) EACH fan uses 2 to 3 Watts of power.

3) A typical Processor can use from 51 to 125 Watts of power.
Maximum power consumption will depend on what Processor it is.

So you see a Power Supply with a weak voltage power rail, will have enough power to light LED lights, and perhaps spin fans, but not enough power to turn the Processor on.

[ You press the Power On button.
The first chipset on the motherboard to receive power, is the BIOS chipset. { Basic Input/Output System}

BIOS looks to see what devices are installed, does a Ram Memory count, turns the Processor on, then hands the computer over to the Operating System.

{Windows XP and Windows 7, are but two examples of an O/S }

I do not see what model number of eMachines you have, listed here.
If it is Not one of the slimline models, you may want to try swapping the Power Supply with a KNOWN to be good one.

I post this with the thought in mind, that there may be an unused desktop computer around, and perhaps you could borrow it's Power Supply for a test unit.

This may sound far fetched, as far as having a spare working desktop computer around, but I have had a reply from a poster who stated their relative had one.

If the Power Supply works, you know what the problem is, and how to solve it. Replace the Power Supply.

Replacing a Power Supply in a desktop computer may seem daunting, if you have never performed this procedure before.
It really isn't.

I can guide you on here, and add links which I believe may be beneficial.

No juice

Sounds like a battery issue. Try powering up without the battery, just AC. If it powers properly, then the battery needs replaced. If it doesn't then it may be the power supply malfunctioning, or the motherboard.

No nothing

I am sure it can be repair,Checking the fuse was good idea but it seems the problem might be farther ahead,if you have no indication of power(no lights,no clicks)the problem might be in the power supply,there is a 5 volts supply that has to be running because is the power to the microprocessor(brain)and when you push the power button on the remote or the set the brain knows it and send the commands to everyone else to turn on,if you have the 5 volts and the brain is working the problem might be in the horizontal circuit ,possibly a bad horizontal output transistor(shorted)if he is bad it might have taken a fuse or a safety resitor.Some fuses dont look like the average fuse,they look more like resistors.If you are familiar with tv service We can give you all the help you need to find the problem ,if you are not too familiar with servicing electronics you might want to call servicer.Let Us know if you need more information.
