I have the exact same problem. I think we'll have to just bite the bullet and send it back for repair.

I got my 120GB Zune for Christmas, loaded it up and everything was gravy. Tonight I turned it off by holding down the play/pause button like I normally do and when I tried to turn it back on it didn't respond at all. I plugged it into a wall charger and my computer and neither have warranted a response. I really hope I don't have to send for a new one and if I do, it had better be free.

Bought my son a 120GB zune for Christmas. Died about a week ago and is not nothing but an expensive paperweight. Dread trying to deal with Microsoft, but it's that or fork out another 200-300 bucks for a new one.

After charging overnight, many times, the computer will not recognize the Zune. And, it won't turn on or play in my Zune Kicker speakers.

Ok the solution is so simple your goign to kick your self. what you do is take you zune cable plug it into any thign other than your computer say a Nintendo Wii or PlayStation 2 or 3 leave it for a few minutes then unplug it and try to restart it if it dosent restart while its pluged in. if it dosent restart then plug it back in and let it set over night some times the battery is so dead that the computer cant pick it up but make sure your wii or Xbox or what ever is turned on .

Well to put it simple your battey has used up its amout of charge needed to cut on just plug it in to what ever has a usb port and just leave it. it will take some time before the charge gets back to the start up point. this just happened to me this morring. mine is working now.if you forget to put the lock on or if some snages and unlocks the zune the slightest movement will cut it on without you knowing so nextime you try to listen the battery is fully saped. (always keep your zune charged)

You most likely need a new battery, which has a pretty low life time on the Zune but which can be replaced without problems. There are third party Zune repair services, that will fix it for cheap. Even better, I found an DYI Zune repair guide, soyoucan do it yourself too, not that difficult. Part is availableon Ebay. If you can't do it yourself, have a tech savy friend do itfor you.

I have found my problem. But I dont understand, how could the battery go dead that quick if it goes to a blank screen when not being used. I found out my problem real quick shortly after I quickly charged it, the battery is DEAD.

Following up my last post:
I tried the reset process a few times and that didn't work so I called Microsoft support and they told me that the only thing to do is to send it in for repair/replacement. Thankfully, the Best Buy where mine was purchased has a thirty day return policy on defective merchandise and I'm still within that window so I'll be taking advantage of that. I hope everything works out for you guys and that Microsoft fixes this problem.

Try resetting the unit by unplugging the unit from the wall, then plugging it in again WHILST holding the power on/standby button in. This should reset the system. If not:

what do you have it plugged-into for power ? it uses the 8-pin Apple Lightning dock connector. If you are using a USB adapter for that, then be aware that a USB-port will only let you draw 500mA or 1/2 an Amp of power....more than that will cause failures and damage to the USB port and the Hub even.

Unplug the unit from ac power. Remove the battery. Wait a minute. Press and hold down the power button for 30 seconds. (Yes, I know, nothing will happen visible). Replace battery. Plug unit back in. Now try the power button and see if the unit resets. Sometimes this helps when all else fails especially with a computer which has "hung up" like yours. Let me know if this worked!

The only thing I can think of is its goin into protection mode like an amplifier would, you maxed the volume out and it's protecting your speakers or you don't have the right voltage going to it, I can see you don't have it on a straight 120v plug and you might have the wiring wrong on the speakers to it might be too low of a ohm or too high

Your radio should have come with a receiver of some sort for the radio signals to set itself. I had this same issue with my clock when the battery in the receiver died ... try replacing this too. It took me forever to figure out what it was because I had forgotten that it had its own radio receiver ... then once I remembered it existed, I had to find it, but replacing the battery fixed the problem. Hope that helps :-)
