Air hockey table keeps scoring on it's own.

I have a Harvard air hockey table and have found that one side scores fine but the other keeps scorig on it's own. I took the LED's out and checked for broken wires thats fine. Do you know where to get parts for Harvard tables? This wire has a phone jack on one end and the to LED's on the other.

This table uses low voltages for the scoring lever. I agree with fixer1950. Check / disassemble the goal / scoring assembly, and look for the scoring lever. sometimes just 2 metal plates. should see where it's touching the scoring strip and you can test it by moving it with your finger / pen / other device.

Try adjusting it further away, and test again with a puck to ensure proper operation..

You probably have a scoring lever stuck.

This is a Fairly simple fix..... Ok so the first thing you need to do if you can turn of the fan and listen for crackling because the circut is probabley shorting out... but if you can just listen close and look for darkened wires and then fix the incorrect wire

Where can I find a replacement 4-wire jack that plugs into the score-keeper of my Halex 50616 air hockey table?

What you are seeking is a 3.5 mm plug to fit the connector on your Halex table. Some video cameras and DVD players use such a plug.

What are the rules of Air Hockey?

Here are some basic rules as defined by the USAA:
  • A face-off or coin toss decides which player gets the first possession of the puck.
  • The first person to score 7 points by shooting the puck into the opponent's goal wins the game. When the puck breaks the horizontal plane inside the goal, a point is counted, whether or not captured by the electronic scoring device.
  • Once the puck is on a certain player's side of the center line, he/she has 7 seconds to hit the puck back across the center line. Otherwise a foul is committed and the opponent receives possession of the puck.
  • Placing one's mallet on top of the puck, known as topping, is a foul. Here the opponent receives possession of the puck.
  • A player cannot touch or strike the puck with any part of his/her body or with any object other than the mallet. Doing so causes a foul and possession changes hands.
  • If the puck is on a clear path into the goal and the player stops it with anything other than the mallet, this is goaltending. Here the opponent receives a free shot.
  • Hitting the puck when it is on the opposite side of the center line, or crossing the center line completely with one's mallet causes a foul. Here the opponent receives possession of the puck.
  • Red lines in the air hockey should not be crossed by the air hockey mallet. (Catalan Champion Chip)
  • If there is a red line on the goals, it means that you cannot keep the air hockey mallet behind the red line. (Catalan Champion Chip)
  • If the puck leaves the table, a foul is called on the player that caused the puck to go out of play due to offensive motion and the opposing player gets possession of the puck. Generally, when a player causes the puck to leave the table with a forward motion of the mallet, even defensively (known as charging), the foul is charged on them. An out of play foul results in the opponent receiving possession of the puck.
  • The players playing cannot touch the puck at any time during pl ay, but if one player scores they can put the puck in loser's side.

What's the use of the Air Hockey Mallet?

The Air Hockey mallet is used to strike the pucks along the Air Hockey table in the direction you want to strike. You should strike the puck with enough force in order to be able to score a goal at the other end of the table, after a couple of game you'll get the idea.

Harvard air hockey scoing system

The controller is poorly designed and likely burned out. I am assuming you bought your's used. If it were new, you would see that each segment of the LEDs would burn out over time and stop displaying. I am rebuilding mine - I bought a microcontroller and and writing the programing from scratch. I have identified all of the pins on the controller and it will plug into all the cables on the bottom of the table. should have it done by New Years. Let me know, if it sounds like your problem. I can build an extra one - I'll check back here to see if you are interested.

Sportcraft Turbo Hockey table will not power up

The customer service is somewhat oblivious to their inventory and products they sell. But, if your table is not pushing the puck, call and order a new fan (easy swap out). Also, you may use a small pin and poke each air-hole as dust accumulates and clogs system (do not use a wax or polish, only damp soft cloth)

The control box is the interface to power scoreboard.(kids pushed the transformer cord in too hard and separated the circuitry panel inside CB). I am in process of replacing mine, model number 34090, part number 34090HG08, $5.00+ SH

There are comparable control box modules for similar turbo hockey games, Atomizer, which uses a similar control box that you can swap circuitry out to your old box. (Very simple, even a cave man can do it..hah). The key is the ability to put control box back together once you disassemble inerts. (The "flip" mechanism is so shoddy it never goes back together right)

Good luck with Sportcraft and their disposable $500-600.00 air hockey tables which have a lifespan of parts of less than 5 yrs!
