Question about Philips SPC700NC Webcam

1 Answer

Ever since I installed the Philip's Webcam software and particularly clicking on the vlounge icon on my desktop I can not connect to the internet. I called my ISP and they said I have a good strong connection .. but something is causing my computer not to connect. My internet was working perfectly before I put that cd in.

I would first uninstall the Web Cam and see ifthe internet returns to normal and works. If it works okay, then I'd contact Phillips and see if they have an answer to the problem. Hope this is of some help. Bud

How to turn it on

Hi

For some webcams, it is better to install the drivers and software first and then connect the camera afterwards.

If you have installed the drivers and software with the camera connected, disconnect the webcam > uninstall all components of the webcam software > restart the computer > reinstall the webcam drivers and software > restart the computer > reconnect the webcam > (My) Computer > right click on the camera icon at the bottom of the window (scroll down if necessary) > send to > Desktop (create shortcut) > double click on the new desktop webcam icon.

I hope this helps.

How can i install my web cam?

Hi,If you don't have CD for installation, Use the below link to download it.

(microsoft.com/hardware/download/download.aspx?category=ICE)

Set Up and Use the VX-3000 personal web camera
  • 1 Install the software using the included CD and plug the LifeCam into a free USB port. For desktop use, place the LifeCam on a clear spot on your desk that's free of other objects, including cables. The camera should not be more than an arm's length away from you. For LCD (or similar object) use, push the center part of the camera's base upward, place the camera on the LCD and close the base around the monitor to secure it.
  • 2 Open the device software by clicking the Microsoft LifeCam icon on your Windows desktop. If no such icon exists on your Windows desktop, click "Start," click "All Programs" and locate the Microsoft LifeCam program in the list of programs there. After launching the LifeCam program, look at the image that appears. If necessary, adjust the camera to more precisely reflect your appearance. For best results, try to center the camera image on your head and shoulders.
  • 3 Click the video camera icon on the bottom panel of the LifeCam program to begin video capture. Video will begin recording, and you will see a "Recording Video" message beneath the live video image. To stop recording, press the same icon (the icon will have a red square with a blue background during recording).
  • 4 To begin audio capture, click the microphone icon on the bottom panel. To stop the audio recording, click the same icon (again, it will have a red square with a blue background during recording). To snap a photo, click the camera icon on the bottom panel.
  • 5 Access any of your captured video, audio or image files by clicking the folder on the bottom panel. The VX-3000 also provides the ability to edit video or image files using supported software. After snapping a photo or capturing video, click the "Edit" icon that appears beneath the thumbnail of the captured content.

  • Hope it helps.

Skype does not see my web cam. i can see the person on the other end of the call but they cant see me?

Skype is very particular about webcams having the latest drivers/software.
Your webcam has no bearing on being able to see your contact - you could still see their broadccast if you had no webcam installed.
I suggest you uninstall the current webcam software and download new software

Visit the Logitech website and browse the photo gallery for your model and click on the photo to navigate to the support page.
Note - Older models on page 2 - look for the link at the bottom right of page 1 and click on it "Still can't find your product?"

    http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/405/&cl=us,en?prodcrid=405

In addition to the Logitech installer you will need to run the support software - Microsoft DirectX . This comes pre-loaded on most Windows computers but has to be updated - I am currently on version 11
To start the DirectX Diagnostic Tool, click Start, click Run, type dxdiag in the Open box, and then click OK.
Work your way through the tabs and check the 'notes' window for any information

    Procedure to re-install Logitech software
Close all programs while uninstalling - downloading and uploading software
    Disconnect your webcam
Uninstall the current webcam software on your computer
    Restart computer
Download the Installation package from Logitech
Run the installer and choose your options during the installation - You may not want Logitech Chat but the Desktop icon for the webcam toolbar is a must.
    Connect your webcam when prompted.

When going into skype disconnect your webcam to reboot the webcam software but do not run any logitech software - allow Skype to take full control.

Unfortunately Logitech do not support Windows 7 for older products - You can try downloading software and running the cam in Compatibility Mode
Visit the Logitech website and browse the photo gallery for your model and click on the photo to navigate to the support page.
Note - Older models on page 2 - look for the link at the bottom right of page 1 and click on it "Still can't find your product?"

Right click on the webcam icon on your desktop or the webcam file from 'All Programs' - select 'Properties'
    Select the 'Compatibility' tab
    Select 'Compatibility Mode'
Use the dropbox to show the OS you have successfully used before
    Click OK
    Restart your computer

When ever i try to record a video on facebook it will record but it says audio is not being recorded...also when i try to record videos just on the web cam it freezes. any suggestions?

Make sure your webcam mic is set as the default mic on your computer - this is especially important if you have a laptop also with a built-in mic

    Plug in the webcam
    TEST SPEAKERS
Right click on speaker icon in System Tray or from Control Panel
    Select "Playback Devices"
The speaker icon ( checked as working) and volume level graph should be visible
Right click on the volume graph and click "Test"
Left hand speakers followed by right hand should be heard

    SET DEFAULT & TEST MIC
    Click "Recording" tab.
Right click on the volume graph and select 'Show disabled devices' and 'Show disconnected devices'
To set required (webcam) mic as default - click on mic font to highlight and click "Properties"
In lower dropbox display "Use this device enable" click 'OK'
Click "Levels" tab and ramp up sliders ( adjust to suit later)
Return to "Recording". Test mic by speaking and make sure volume graph displays

    Restart computer

The freezing problem could be for a variety of reasons - internet connection - lack of memory etc.
Ensure you have Microsoft DirectX installed and its up to date
If you installed from a CD your Logitech software itself may need updating

Visit the Logitech website and browse the photo gallery for your model and click on the photo to navigate to the support page.
Note - Older models on page 2 - look for the link at the bottom right of page 1 and click on it "Still can't find your product?"

    http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/405/&cl=us,en?prodcrid=405

In addition to the Logitech installer you will need to download Microsoft DirectX 9 or later to support your webcam

    Procedure
Close all programs while uninstalling - downloading and uploading software
    Disconnect your webcam
Uninstall the current webcam software on your computer
    Restart computer
Download the Installation package from Logitech
Run the installer and choose your options - You may not want Logitech Chat but the Desktop icon for the webcam toolbar is a must.
    Connect your webcam when prompted.

You can also download and run this webcam diagnostic software - dont worry too much about the first alert - I always get that.
Reboot your webcam software by unplugging the cam for a couple of seconds before running the diagnostic utility

With the webcam still running click on the 'Settings' menu (2 gear wheels)
