Question about SanDisk Cruzer Micro MP3 Player
How do I format this ? It will hold some photographs, and then refuses to take any more. It is new - bought five days ago
Is this one of the cruzers with the slidey USB connector, and what's called "U3"on it that loads automatically?
If so, you should not need to format it as such, but if there is a lot of the U3 software on it, that can bog up the drive with unnecessary data. You can also remove the U3 software altogether, however, this is a permanent solution - make sure you will not ever want this functionality from your drive first before you remove the U3 software.

Mine did the same thing and stopped working when I took it to a Vista PC... when I brought it back to my XP it did not recognize it. In my case I could see the device but it says that I must reformat.
Go to Sandisk support and download / reload the driver for your particular device and it will reload the U3 software and drivers. It gave me an option to save my data first and I tried this but it came up with the format disk message from windows again.
I used the sandisk driver from their support page to reinstall the drive this time I did not try to save the data. It only took a minute to reload U3 / Drivers and I have my drive back like new. I did lose the data but this drive was always for transport and never carried non-recoverable data anyway.
I am curious as to why I had trouble going to and from Vista... thoughts?
